...though Chaffee (or "Coffee" between friends) has the slight problem that the second turret is just about the fugliest, most mismatched thing ever. Yes, even when you count in the newfangled French pieces of art brutal - those at least have the hulls done in the same style... >.<

Sometimes ugly is its own beauty, look at the AH-64 Apache helicopter.  Ugliest thing on Earth, but so beautifully terrifying.

 ...I don't see what's supposed to be particularly eye-watering about that thing...? Plus the Hind is generally thought to be the poster boy of ugly attack helos...

Meh, the Hind to me is just a vicious bugger, like a badger.

Back to the Chaffee, I think the new turret is a Zoidberg.  "Look at me look at me look at me!!!"  *Gets killed*  "Don't look at me!!"

Well, I know two people who point blank refuse to use it on account on not wanting to have that eyecancer on their screen for a whole match...
Can't say I blame them. Seriously, are those MG pods on the sides? They nick those from a fighter plane or something?

Nah, look like 30's from normal infantry or something to me.  Does add a bit of menace against infantry for dual coaxial guns :Smile-playing:

It drives good, but it is very dependent on your team. I had very bad games with teams that dont support or follow up. Lemmings and tankers that hide (not campers, but those that dont want to stick turret out of cover to shoot) are dangerous, as you think someone will use your scouting but they dont even watch the minimap. When people pay attention it is wonderful, they clear the map as you expose it, that makes the chaffee worth all the bad games.

Here is a story from Minsk:

I'm finally getting good with the damned M24 Chaffee.  I was in Minsk and decided "don't rush or go in the open, support that Pershing!"

And I did.

I spotted an enemy Hummel, took a shot at it, and it exploded.  I still can't believe I one shotted a damned Hummel!  Then things got hairy with the arrival of three VK3601H in the train yard.  But knowing they'd think I'm easy pray I turned around while firing to annoy them and follow me for the kill.  Big mistake.

The Pershing I was supporting quickly reacted to my plan and proceeded to surgically destroy two of the three tanks, leaving the other stunned and hiding, I proceeded to seize the initiative and flank him.  I think I managed to jam his turret and engine since after one HE shot he stopped moving.  The Pershing rolled in and cleaned up for me.

After that, the enemy heavy tanks pushed up and came towards us, we both backed off sharpish to get a better firing position, unfortunately and enemy T-34-85 snuck up behind us and tracked the Pershing, me naturally annoyed, I swung around behind the T-34 who was concentrating on the Pershing, I shot him multiple times up the read that caused him to be heavy damaged, and then finally shot by artillery.  Nice.  Save a Pershing, save the girl.

Looking back, I've been playing the Chaffee completely wrong.  The Chaffee isn't a scout, its a scout from Team Fortress 2.  Whose sole role is to get on your nerves, getting their attention, just so friendly units can clean up after you tick them off.  Also NEVER be caught in the open, the Chaffee is agile and durable, just don't get tracked.  ;)  :ylove:

I zoom out and have my eyes on the opponents and the HUD only! (To be looked at, here!)
A fighter tank needs MG pods too!

Do those two people have good results on any other tank at all? :P

Chaffee is insanely agile, turns on a dime & fast as all hell turret wise.

The gun is a railgun with a ridicolous ROF.  Put in the right place & aimed well you kick ass.

You sure have a very special understanding of the word agile. (Agility or nimbleness is the ability to change the body's position efficiently.)

It may also be, that a Russian "Kopek" coin (or similar) is much larger than one would expect it to be. :P

I stoped playing my beloved chaffee.  :Smile-hiding:

The BatChat' is sooooooo much better and more fun !!!!!!!!  :Smile-izmena::Smile-izmena:
Same here. I traded the lovely Chaffee for the AMX 13 75. Even tho the reload is almost just as fast on shells.
Earned 19k in a few hours on the AMX. I couldn't do that in my Chaffee :( Even though I have more than 200k free xp on my Chaffee.

Which tanks do you have in your garage?
I've got 86 researched, but really don't have the cash for the garage slots. I only have, ehm, 16 tanks in my garage, I think..
And I'm too cheap to use small amounts of free xp to elite all of my smaller tanks :D

Lol nice crew aza.

Not even my IS-7 crew that started their careers on the KV have the third to 100%.
But you got 1200 battles in Chaffee so I guess it figures  :Smile_great:

I used Chaffee for a change of pace for a long time, but lately it's become my most used and perhaps favorite vehicle. So much fun and I love that gun.

I found that them french AMX 13 75 and 90 is real bad chaffee killers, faster and better armed. Also have this feeling that team lemming much more now, making it hard to scout many maps, as arty have to defend rather than support when flanks are falling. This makes it hard to scout.

The only bad thing (in my opinion) about the chaffee is the size and uglyness of the top turret that is required for the top gun that it can use, haven't tested it but it would seem quite likely that the higher size (due to turret) lowers your 'stealth'  rating but... it's extremely fun to drive ;)

Compared to the M5, the Chaffee is just pure gold, I have an elited Chaffee with 100% crew. Now it has excellent acceleration, mobility and decent top speed, and the hands down best gun on a tier 5 light tank. The view range is amzing and it can easily do the scouting without even putting itself to close to the frontlines. It can easily destroy tier 7 tanks, and even tier 8, while being one of the best anti-scout killers.
