Hi!

Why in the world design maps the way wargaming do.......i mean....loads of maps with lakes and mountains in the maps.....why do maps with so much unplayable space??????

Do wargaming have so little design creativity so they are forced to fill up space with water and mountain.....rethink wargaming please.....design maps with less corridor type of play...open up!!!

Campinovka.

The mapdesign is very bad indeed, but that's an old problem and one that will never get fixed. So just enjoy the few open maps we have.

People said that about hidden village. A map that had about 45% unused space. It did see several topics before the map hit live. And even more after it hit live about people complaining about wasted space on the map.

Then it was reworked and then removed because in the end the players only used 10% of the 55% they had ironically. So just because there is more space on a map. Don't indicate they will still use it. Dragon ridge is tbh, the best example of that. More or less 100% of the map was accessible. Still only the one lane saw action. Rest of the map was 100% ignored. AS 29 out of 30 tanks 9 out 10 games only used the 8 line, then the 8 to 9 line after its rework.

Personally I like unused map space makes things pretty. Also when most people are dead and it's 4vs3 for example then you can actually use those "danger zones" to your advantage

Well yeah.

Because half the map was terrible, and the remaining space was out of cover.

It was a terrible map

The maps are designed to have 2-3 lanes of attack. Terrain like lakes, mountains, etc are there to act as walls so people cant 1) switch lanes quickly to prevent being flanked 2) shoot at tanks in other lanes. This leaves you with these large maps where the actual playable areas are quite small. Artillery also makes the problem much worse as it forces players to stay close to tall buildings and rocks in order to stay alive. In matches with no artillery, you always see the teams using way more of the map and things get more interesting.

So the two main problems are A) WG's fondness of the corridor/lane approach to level design B) Artillery making large parts of the maps unplayable

yes, maps are terrible often favoring one side over another, balance is poor, greed is sickening and putting bots in game and screwing over the games whenever bonus or mission is applied just fu.

I'm gonna base this on light tanks being able to see another tank given the right spawn location

Himmelsdorf, Ruinberg, Malinovka, and Paris

now 20 seconds before first spot with same parameters

EVERY OTHER MAP!

OP, because WG hates scouts and snipers.  Even when they do create an open map they make it so that there no concealment, no cover, or there are undulations which blocks views and sniping but they still want to sell you garbage like the Krup-Steyr WT

Luckily the OP only joined long after Hidden Village was removed. If the current maps are enraging him for wasted map space then Hidden Village would have given him a seizure.
