At the start of the battle, everytime. Lakeville looks especially nice, could stare at that mountain for days.

The only tornado I know of is on Highway, a map yet to be released (teased in today's video).

I do all the time, only to realize that even though they have put in the time to design and model it we are still stuck on the exact same map each time.

It's distracting, but it gives the maps a completely different feeling...

It feels like a different game. I'm not comfortable with that. ...I miss how WoT used to feel before 1.0. :(

I don't have time sightseeing on the map because i have to compensate for those still busy eating their crayons after the battle started.

Not really, no. Well, Mannhemmer line is probably the exception.

But it irritates the heck outa me that, with map changes, they also often change the direction from which the sun shines, i.e. turn the maps geographically.  This sudden (and totally illogical change) used to phuk up the Himmelsdorf game experience, and still has me bothered at least on Paris, where I mentally have to look at the map to see what base I am starting from instead of just looking at the spot where I am standing. Very irritating. Not to mention that, taken the direction from which the sun shines, most maps (as in bottom right corner) are not oriented in a north/south direction. I mean... why not???

I must admit I find some of the opening animations on some maps to be very well done and I would look at them. Probably not as much now of course since I've seen them many times now but I still enjoy the fresher more realistic and large feeling HD ambiance they bring. For example, the opening scene on Erlenberg where an fighter is limping back home from a battle and it gets shot down by AA guns, fantastic it really is well done including the sounds. I play with a headset so I get really highlights the screaming engine sounds as it comes crashing down. Much the same with the opening scene of Manerheim Line where the Russian rocket artillery comes sweeping across the map and of course the fighters racing across Prok is very nice.

As a pro competitive gamer I turn down the graphics settings so as to not be distracted and save cpu processing speed to make every second count..

Can't say I've noticed it.

Wild guess:

Fjords?

Is it Live Oaks or Karelia? Can't really remember a tornado...

But I usually focus more on the mountains. Love to see all the tiny details they put there. :)

True. The mountains in Mannerheim line, Fjords and Glacier are my favourite. I somehow like that black stone, especially with snow on it. :)

It s one of the things that makes me sad.

They obviously put in a lot of effort in the scenery and details, but most of the time you can't really enjoy it; because you are either too busy or they are outside the established fighting "corridors".

It's a bit a case of wasted resources & money, this "pearls for the swines" HD scenery.

I wish there was a way to go on a "offline" stroll with a LolTraktor, just to check out the scenery and nooks & crannies and visit the bars & pizzerias and yes, even try to climb the stairs to the mountaintop ruin where they have hidden the Golden Type-59, Holy Grail, bottle of wodka.

I know that you can "rent a room", but it takes two to tango and thus you need to have a very patient friend or clanmate while you do the "oh-wow look at that" Hawaiian shirt wearing touristy thing.

EDIT That said, update 1.1 has just pre-loaded... so soon more maps that we can't really check out the details on.
