Quite sad to think how far off the engine sounds and gun sounds are. There used to be an engine sound mod however it is no longer supported. There is a gun sound mod although every micro patch destroys it and they take time to update it.

It's about time they add some decent realistic engine and gun sounds. It would totally transform the game imo.

It's about time you get to understand what those actually would sound like...

I get the feeling you don't even know what the engines and gun fires realistically would sound like.

They are not. These are sounds recorded from actual tanks. Hollywood spices up the sounds, or in lot of cases completely makes up sounds of certain things.

It is impossible to capture and reproduce actual gun sound due to the dynamic range involved, if it were possible you'd go deaf. This is as good as it gets, it captures the timbre, but it cannot capture the full volume of a "bang". Real gun sounds are not really special, they are just really really loud.

A live firing event of what? Just cut the blabbering, and preferably stop posting altogether,

Load of rubbish. T34 for example does not even have the iconic rattling noise of the tracks hitting the pin to keep them on

I do miss the old sounds for the 15cm guns or bigger. That made my subwoofer jump around each time. As the new sounds made it sound like a 9mm going off. Tho they changed that too luckily. The first sound fix attempt was less then ideal, as the feedback also showed.

Real gun sounds would probably make you wanna wear ear plugs at least.

Why? You record the sound at a distance so no distortion occurs then you have the option to lower the volume, and in case of engine sounds you normalize the levels and stich it together as you would do with a cleverly designed texture so you don't catch any irregularities.

You do not need to put the microphone in the cannon pipe to get realistic recordings.

Uhm... how do they do it for the game sounds then? In any case, that is not the sound you would hear inside the tank turret when the gun is fired. Never been inside a tank myself, but I been close to a battery of 122 mm D-30's when they were firing and the sound is... pretty bad, I can tell you.
