I know it is a weird title but I feel it has significance, as in so many people are scaremongering about this games rapid decline, one gets the feeling that the game in it's entirety will cease to be around by Christmas,

I for one hope this is not true and will miss it if it does occur, has there been this much scaremongering before or is it a new thing ,and if WG are making a ton of money out of this game, then why would they wish to destroy their own game?

With the introduction of new maps, and reworked ones, new tanks etc I simply cannot see that the game will vanish, but if there are any old sweats still around, maybe they can shed some light on the matter.

Everything dies and something new takes it's place, it's all in the loop.

People have been yelling about the destruction of the world for ages now and I am still patiently waiting.

Conclusion? Play on.

If <insert nonsensical political viewpoints fronted by the victims of said political viewpoints> can be a thing 70 years after it should've died, then WoT will surely stick around until Christmas.

I'd be worried once they outright sell the Type 59 - and there's a lot of 'collector tanks' to go through before that happens. Even after that they'd need a year or so of uptime to prevent players from 'pulling out'.

We had topics like this last year, and the year before that, and when AW came, and when WT came. All for different reasons why the game will be dead in less then a year. And now it's based on a stat in daily login stats from a 3rd party site. Even tho Peak hours are... the same as last year more or less. But I suspect they will need a major F-up to kill the game by Xmas.

As everything will die eventually. Even WOW did stop sharing numbers with players 2 years ago. As they were lower and lower 3 years in a row before that. Tho the game is still going strong as such. But WOW like WOT is not what keeps the company afloat anymore. As in not their main income. Blizzard have other games to milk harder then that with loot boxes etc.

People have been confidently stating the game "Will be dead in 12 months" since launch. They'll keep doing it until one of them manages to get it right and then they'll claim they told you so.

Clearly it's not going to be gone by Christmas or Christmas 2019 or probably the Christmas after that. But 750k players is still 100k down on this time last year. And the 3/5/7 template was poison for a game at this stage of its life cycle. Making tier 8, one of the most popular tiers, with all the expensive premiums a misery to play was always going to negatively impact player numbers.

Player numbers are no longer stable, as they have been in previous years, they are declining. Which suggests the game is nearer to the end of its life than the start. The question is whether the decline is fast or slower and drawn out.

Ah good that is what I want to hear, good positive crap, too many people on other threads saying the game is dead, i just get worried by the amount of people saying it, i can breathe a sigh of relief then.

Same will be with Wot.

In honor of this thread I just had a ham and mustard sandwich, something which I normally only have around Christmas due to traditions.

Regarding the subject itself, decline yes, death no, WoT will most likely end up a bit like WoW (well it kinda already have), neither was the first doing what they do, but both was first successfully doing it to the extent they have. Just like in WoW the player-base go up and down like a jojo depending on the events, new content, etc going on at the moment, but neither dies. However at the same time it will never reach the same numbers as during it's heydays which mostly comes down to the fact that games like these tend to level off as soon as they try to please the "average player" more than push forward. Clones come and go, but in the end why play a similar game or invest money into a game when it's so similar to a game that you've already invested time and perhaps also money into, something many clones have found ain't really something many do, at least not long after the hype have died down. The only franchise that really have pulled of selling the same content to people over and over again is CoD, people have done it all before, they still buy it, it's however a rare exception.

Only time we will start to see a serious decline will be when 2.0 becomes fully available.

Even then, I doubt it will 'die' just become more of a niche thing, a little like Warcraft.

As long as World of Warplanes still exist I got absolutely zero worries about World of Tanks.
