What skill is better overall between Signal Boosting and Relaying? What is better for Light tank, medium, etc. Thanks.

Apart from at very low tiers, you should have plenty of signal range, so I wouldn't personally go for either.

You would normally take camo, BIA, situation awareness. The skill you mention are rarely used.

Neither skills are useful unless like, you have a maxed out crew and they're the only things left. :P

Here you can read about Radio Range as well as all the other battle mechanics:

http://wiki.wargamin...ics#Radio_Range

Here you can read about crews and skills:

http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Crew

Here you can pick a tank and apply what ever skills and equipment you want to see the effects:

https://tanks.gg/techtree/

Here I picked the Chaffee and applied some equipment and if you press the + sign on the far right you can add what ever crew skill you want and see it's effect:

I have never trained any crew in either Signal Boosting or Relaying since they are by far the most useless skills in the game, literally every other skill is better or vital depending on the tank/class you're in. So don't pick either apart from if you got a max trained crew and don't have anything else at all to train.

even then it's probably better to not train anything, since unassigned XP will be used in case the crew changes tanks.

Must admit I've never changed a crew like that from one tank to another so I haven't noticed before, good to know, not that I intend to move my most skilled crews from my favorite tanks but still.

Except some low tier where radio range don't cover the whole map, I saw those skills being usefull only on Frontline, to both have better awarness on what's going on on the other fronts or to pass the info to the rest of the team.

Maybe for the tier 5 ELC, if you have used all other more useful skills to boost the bad radio range,

but as others have said, it is - if only - useful at lowest tiers

Would rather have nothing that Signal Boosting or Relaying skill. Useless placeholders.

Indeed. got these skills trained on the KV-4 crew (because I ran out on all the more useful skills to train on the radioman, including camo) & it helped me & my team to keep contact across the frontline map. 1000 meter radiorange ftw.

Outside that tho? Pretty useless skills as normally the standard radiorange from the top radios is good enough (at higher tiers, can make a case for it on lower tiers; but even then it is a skill you train later).

Neither.

Train camo, get 100%, re-set perks as appropriate for light, train camo or repairs as second perk, once at 100% re-set skills again, re-train repairs as third perk.

Even then... radio range in battle is your radio range + allies radio range.

If they have a 600m radio range, then the 400m on the ELC is enough to extend that from one side of the map to the other...

Or you can retrain your radio operator for another tank with a more useful role.

And get a fresh one.

Radio operators are a bunch of lazy parasites playing with switches that should get a real job ;)

High tier tanks have decent enough radio range so you need neither. Sit awareness and Recon is better because having more view range saves you more often than you might think
