WG just announced wheeled vehicles on its webpage.

I obvioulsly was very interested.

Some videos were demostrating how these new vehicles work.

To my suprise the  very last second video from the bottom shows that the gun is locked on the enemy vehicle, without actually moving the crosshair over it.

That can be done only by illegal mod, which is ban-able offence according to WG.

If it is put in game by WG than it isn't a Mod, therefore it cannot be an illegal modification

The wheeled vehicles also have a special lock-on feature. This allows players to automatically aim at enemy vehicles just by simply clicking close to the target

In the video they said the gun aim had to be close to the target. And you had to see the silhouette of the target for it to work. So I suspect it doesn't work on targets behind cover or too far away from your gun. So based on those two things. It's not like the banned mod as such.

Well they have to continually help the really bad players... next update we get the autodrive feature so people who are crap don;t even have to press the keyboard anymore. Seriously any more dumbing down of this game it may as well be made by Fisher Price.

Personally I've always regarded that mod (in whichever incarnation) as a QoL mod, representing how the autoaim system should have been in the first place.

Really wtf..

First they practically ban people for using such mods. And then they are like 'hmm. good idea'' .

so much for consistency

Thank god for that, so I can put my Skorpion G on auto pilot and it carries the game, something I can only dream of:D

WG and consistency never go hand in hand together, look at how many tanks they say they will never sell again.

A narrow-minded and simplistic view that ignores auto-aims utility in certain situations.  Falling back want to keep your gun to the enemy and possibly fire?  In one of the new 100 kmh apc's seems helpful.  I am not saying it should be used as a crutch.  Merely another tool in the box to be used at need.

You could go all qpranger and insist premium ammo and repair kits are not needed in the game next.  But being a Dinger, rather unlikely.

This, the current in-game auto-aim system has always been unnecessarily fiddly.

It would be a huge nerf to highly mobile lightly armoured tanks, which are already struggling in most cases as it is.

I see no problem with auto-aim, don't really see it as a 'no skill' option either because if you just use it all the time you are not going to do very well, it doesn't lead targets, it doesn't hit the right parts of the tank, so it's really there to be used at the right time and in the right positions, which is the skill element.

-----------------------------------------

On a side note you have to laugh at the logic of the OP, WG putting a feature into the game is not promoting an illegal mod.

Well hopefully it wont be a problem for me anymore, going cold turkey wish me luck for my 99999999999th time of trying to kick the habit.

I've tried to use it sometimes, mostly when there is one of those annoying LT's buzzing around because there is no way I can hope to both aim, track with turret and do hull traverse at the same time, and sometimes when using peak-a-boo tactics over the top or behind a corner. Works better in the first case, less well in the latter case.

Auto aim is such a stupidity that shouldnt even be in the game...

Lost count of the times i got snap shoted by players using it, that if they had to aim properly they would never do those shots...

Ence, it penalizes the skilled player and helps bad ones do good.

Same with that stupid 2 sec perk that allows to shoot a tank that already is in cover...
