Just thought I'd collate all the rewards from all 10 Caern AX missions and work out the approximate real money value of them to compare to the bundle price.

Might be useful for those looking at buying the whole package or how much discount they want to get through doing the missions to make it worth it.

So -

  • 3 premium consumables (60k credits) = 150 gold = ~ £0.57 or 0.64 Euros (Stage 1)

  • 1.7 million credits = 4250 gold = £13.89 or 15.56 Euros (Stages 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 9)

  • 5 x 2hr 200% crew boosters, 5 x 2hr 300% Free XP boosters, 30 x 2hr 50% XP boosters, 30 x 2hr 50% Credit boosters = Tough one, currently in game I think you can buy a booster bundle with 20 x 2hr 100% XP, 20 x 2hr 300% crew boosters and 20 x 2hr 50% credit boosters for 5000 gold. This is 10 more boosters,  more credit boosters but worse crew boosters, but using that as figure we can say £16.14 or 18.10 Euros.  (Stages 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 9)

  • 3 days of premium account = £2.44 or 2.74 Euros (Stages 4, 8 & 9)

  • Vertical Stabiliser (Mk 2), Vents (Class 3) and medium tank gun rammer (I am presuming these as is doesn't actually say types) = 1.4 million credits = 3,500 Gold = £11.61 or 13 Euros (Stage 4)

  • Mission camo set available to be used on any tier 6-10 British vehicle = £2.56 or 2.87 Euros (based on the Italian Challenge camo currently in the shop(Stage 7)

  • Another camo/style set on completion of stage 10 (the flag one) =  Looks like a similar style set to the one that came with the 50TP and was basically free (Stage 10)

  • 'Full crew with the Brothers in Arms perk trained to 100%', doesn't say if this is a free BIA crew, difficult to price this. (Stage 10)

  • Caernarvon Action X tier 8 Premium Heavy Tank + Slot = ? It doesn't have a gold price I can see anywhere, closest thing in the premium shop right now is probably the AMX M4 mle 49 which is £36.24, so let's go £37 or 41.4 Euros. (Stage 10)

Total package value (approx) = ~ £84 or 94 Euros.

However, bear in mind that buying credits with gold is a horrible way of doing it and those credits, equipment and consumables can all be got for free in game.

Also I am not 100% sure on the boosters value.

Edit: Package is in the premium shop for £53.29 or 59.78 Euros

Ya that's the outright most flat-brained value of everything. As you said, buying credits with gold is just dumb and so that can almost be removed from the price. Personal Reserves are also thrown at us for just about everything, we all have over the 99 counter limit of those so can be also realistically removed from the final price. Any of the mentioned equipment is such is also available for 50% on certain weekends which come around frequently enough so that can be reduced from the final price too and finally the tank itself will no doubt be available to buy at some other point and also for some sort of 30% reduction price so... maybe the total value is actually €10? :P

People also value time though, takes time to grind all those credits.

Also credit boosters are more rare than the others, they are mainly only available in missions like this or in ranked.

Think of it this way of it takes 40 battles a day as others have mentioned

That's around 6-10 hours of game play per day.For 14 days meaning that you'll put in a minimum of 84 hours and a maximum of 140 hours so that's less than 1 euro an hour.

Which is clearly below the minimum wage so it might be easier to buy it if you want it so much.

Although, I'm probably stupid enough to buy it even though I hate the clown paint.I'll probably play and handful of games in it then remember that I can't play heavy tank's and then sell it.

Discontinued doesn't get out of bed for less than  £14 per hour.

All the cearn ax talk is making my T95 wag it's tail as he needs a bit of exercise.

The XP boosters are 50% rather than 100% (at least when i checked ingame they were).

If i remember right progetto bundle was something like 61E while the tank itself cost something like 38E. Back then my thinking was (and still is) "tanks are overpriced as [edited]in WoT and a t8 premium i would never buy for more than 15-20 E depending on how good it is. And that worked out to mean 80% discount being the threshold at which id consider it to be a good buy. And so I got 80% discount, and then felt positively about buying the thing.

This thing i find more desirable to me than progetto as this thing is pretty much exactly what ive been looking for in a premium t8 - a solid HT that is good in SH and that doesnt need to spam gold to pen defenders lfp. Thus ill find worth buying this at ~20E. Lets hope one will arrive at that cost at 70% discount, because i dont quite feel like wasting more time than that on the marathon.

10 hours? 4 battles per hour? I think you can squeeze in 12 battles per hour if you change vehicle in the garage, these days 5 minute duration battles are the norm.

Average battle length is 6-7 minutes I believe and is probably slightly higher at higher tiers.

Realistically that is at best 10 games per hour, probably less with all the loading times etc.

You are missing one thing: you're playing the game, not working. If you treat it as work, it's a truly bad deal as you said. But if you are playing the game anyway, why not play it a little more for 2 weeks to get a decent discount on a tier 8 premium tank and a bunch of stuff.

In short: you can treat it as a bad job or you can play the game normally and "earn 1€ per hour" as a bonus.

Most people don't have that much time available per day, so that's an issue. Also, trying to speed things up and win through the tier 10 misisons in nearly impossible because unless you're a unicum you'll have to play lots of tier 8 premium tank games as well to pay for those tier 10 games. (Not to mention that the tier 10 requirements are far from easy to reach). No, in practice only a few players will be able to get this tank for free.

This is classic WG. They dangle a reward in front of us, so we'll all play like mad, which is good for them. Then we find out that in practice we'll not be able to complete all missions. But by then we all have invested a lot of time; so now we want that tank anyway and spend real money to buy it. Not as much as if we just had to buy it straight up but that doesn't matter if the lower cost means that more people buy it, particularly because this will actually be a useful tank. Let's be honest, nobody needed the T25, or the T34S for that matter. But a decent British heavy tank crew trainer...

I don't blame them. They're a company and they need to make money, but let's not pretend that the Carenarvon AX is anything but bait in a trap.

£53 CX bundle in the shop, and nothing with it of any actual cash value such as gold.

As a value proposition, grind vs. purchase, I think I might save my stress & time, and just wait to see if it turns up during Christmas Tier8 discounts....

So a 99€ bundle which gives you 10% discount after completing each stage? Seems reasonable.

This also means the first stages are the most bang for buck. 3000 xp should be doable under an hour of gameplay and delivers a 10% discount with an equipvalent of 10€. Not bad.

The bundle is 60 Euros, so each stage of the mission gets you 6 Euros off the price.

Aha, I see. Well, I'm gonna play like always play, so I guess I'll get to stage 6-7-ish. 24-18€ is quite an ok price for this bundle :)

I am aiming for stage 8 for the credit boosters. Not going to buy the tank even if I get that far and I will just play normally.

Same here. The tank doesn't strike me as anything special. It has no extra credit earnings, I presume so it's just an underwhelming version of an existing vehicle.

But the rewards do sound nice. Although I doubt I'll get past many stages.
