So the Borsig, Su-152 and the Jumbo (to name a few off the top of my head) would get pref-mm with their stock configs?:D

To be fair I think OP is referring *edited* like T34-1 chinese which packs a tier 6 gun against tier 9s....

Maybe so, but it's a good example of the way people will just throw out an example of a change that will supposedly 'fix' everything without proper consideration of the full effects of that change across the game as a whole. People complain that WG "don't listen" to the players but you'd have a lot more to complain about if they actually did. Look at Armoured Warfare if you want a great example of why listening to the players is a terrible idea.

Good idea, but impossible to apply without abusing it. I prefer to change MM and be + - 1 for any tank. Unless there are not enough players, to make + -2.

I prefer MT-25 with not top gun, so getting top tier would make my win rate for MT go up(and its already higher than my average)

But surely not an unsolvable one with a little common sense and thought. There is enough data flying around to know which tanks need a little ...er ...help and which ones don't.

I don't agree about listening to the players though. They should listen.....but I think we would agree about not acting on what they hear:trollface:

Aren't the first 5 games in a new tank noob protected, wasn't that introduced a few patches ago? Or was it just a suggestion or possibility mentioned in a Q&A session?

Nope, my tier 4 Polish tank gave me: tier 6, tier 6, tier 4 as first 3 games.

If there is a new tank protection it is FUBAR.

Get feedback absolutely. Unfortunately way too many people just equate WG not implementing exactly what they want with WG "doesn't listen".

The MM got changed to 3-5-7 exactly because WG listened to feedback that the MM of the time wasn't 'fair' because you could sometimes end up the lone tier 8 in a tier 10 game, so they introduced the 3-5-7 which is totally fair. Now everyone gets exactly the same MM template. It's what people demanded, WG listened and gave it to them. Turns out people don't really like a totally 'fair' MM. :)

You can counter it with the battle count,  etc  50games or less on said tank will have pref mm  50 + you are in the normal mm. This will give a breathing space to the player to  learn the tank, and we wont see  stock heavies in med lines  that results in corner camping games.

This wouldn't be fair, as when you have premium account and also boosters running it's very easy to finish a grind on a tank within those 50 battles.

Nope, it's not implemented. noob protected, means your win chance is high? I've lost more then enough "first battles" in which I performed very well, but team was utter garbage and lost in a few mins, while I was top on damage and xp.

You're probably the first player getting a different tier match then being toptier in your first battle I've heard of.

Simple way to do pref. MM to stock tanks would be to give certain number of battles that can be played with stock tank.

Rules:

- Only once per each tank

- Tier X excluded

- Number of preferential MM games is tier * 5

- Number of preferential MM games goes down by the amount of 1 + upgraded equipments times 2 (two upgraded equipment = 1+2*2=5 pref. matches gone per game)

- Some tanks with derp guns / initially strong tank would get upgraded equipment status for stock, consuming the leeway faster. (ISU, 105mm derpies etc)

So the preferential MM would be temporary, no way to exploit it for long. You could freeXP fully equipped tank and play something like 4-5 games on tier 9 as pref. MM but then the fun would be over. But if you grind the tank really stock you'd get 45 preferential MM matches on tier 9 (which would still be bloody awful often).

Simple solution is to give tanks with stock configuration PREFERENTIAL MMThe difficulty is that there are some balancing factors, such as some lower tier modules actually being preferred over higher tier ones, or an un-penetrable turret at lower tiers.

Module based mm was done in beta and was dropped because it was felt that it punished you for upgrading.

Honest question: is there any benefit (for a player) in driving stock tanks?

Should there be?

Don’t beleive it’s in the game no. Quite early on there was pref. MM for the first ten matches but it only last a couple of patches. It sounds like a good idea until you have that stock tank as one of your top tiers and also that it means for the first ten games you’re more likely to lose than win.

It was 1 patch

When i was still playing randoms, i went back to unlock and use the m4 Sherman (iirc the unlock path was different when i first went up the us mt line) and my first game was in t8

Edit:wow my second post got turned into a multi quote with the first one when i wasn't trying to, the editor actually did something helpful without me asking, wonders will never cease

Sure, how are we deciding what constitutes a 'stock' tank? How about I just upgrade everything except say the radio, or maybe just not bother with that engine that only gives an excess 50hp?

Am I still a stock tank now or am I a tank maxed out in all the important areas that still gets to enjoy preferential matchmaking?

Ideally WG would be intelligent enough to make sure that didn't happen :) I refer to key areas like the gun or possibly turret

Some tanks stock are better than others. Especially with gold spam. T29 with stock turret + 90mm would be a world beater with pref mm

Or to a place where noncompetitive stock tanks get pref mm, and they have plenty of data to know what these are, and the ones that are...don't.

Not every game but certainly a good percentage.

best way is to give pref MM for a limited number of battles for example the first 20 battles so they can unlock some of the stuff. Feeding a stock T8 heavy to T10s is not funny at all

even if you stuck an ARL V39 as stock against just T4 tanks, it would still suck... it gets a T3 gun and you have to unlock tracks before mounting anything else, including equipment....

this idea wont even save that thing..
