So, I just noticed at how utterly inefficient this design is. For the intended role which tank should be used against and environment in which it was supposed to fight, for me it seems that Leopard has pointless armor and it is simply too big. It could easily get 10 ton reduction to 30 ton tank without losing any combat capabilities. French version, AMX 30 is seemingly better designed tank as it is lighter, thus cheaper, efficient and more maneuverable. Leopard seems heavy for the sake of being heavy. The best example of what I imagine Leopard should be is TAM tank.

It is bloody cheap, has great autonomy, is fully machine gun immune and it achieves everything that Leopard could. So, I simply do not understand the reason why Leopard is so damn heavy? What is the point of giving that additional armor for the tank when even legacy tanks can penetrate it from great ranges?
