Hi

I just started wondering: how does the Centurion play?

I looked at the stats and compared it against 59-Patton and there was some trade off's here and there but how does it behave on the battlefield And is it worth buying?

How I currently use my 59-Patton?

As top tier against tier 6&7's I sidescrape as the turret is big and when Peking from the left side the cupola is safe so players tend to ding me often so I can trade with it,

When its pure tier 8 game I snipe/flank/sidescrape

When against against tier 9&10 I wolfpack/snipe or tag along some heavy tanks or heavy TDs and keep their flanks clean and flak if the enemy they are brawling against is alone so when I go behind them they either leave me alone so I have time to give them a new Bhind or they stuart turning against me so my heavy friend can take him out. And in some maps I scout and peek over hills as the cupola show first so I can spot the enemy while they have a small target to shoot at.

Dont own the 59 Patton, so cant compare. But Circon did a nice review of the tank, maybe that will help you compare for yourself the differences / similarities?

The Cent 5/1 is in no way comparable to the 59-Patton.

Lets begin with the "comparison" : The 59 Patton is crap, the Cent 5/1 isn't.

Have both.

As above - no comparison; the 59 Patton is garbage, the Cent 5 is very good.

IMO the wikis pros and cons are gathered in training room and another players just goes "bang bang" to test the armor and then they make someother tests and make something out of that, True there is ingame details from random battles, but not enough for me

for me 59-patton is one of the worst t8 med prem tanks. He has nothing to offer. Centurion isnt a miracle too but overall really better then 59-patton. All in all they both belongs to "peanuts shooting" tanks class. Want good prem with 240 alpha? Go for Proggetto, t26e5 or t44-100.

went for it only bc of that decent recent offer. More for collecting purpose not like i needed another t8 prem. And must say so far that tank feels very very bad. Recently i 3marked mutz, that tank really struggles in current mm but compare with 59-patton looks almost OP:)

in general it is just better tank in almost everything. Bettter gun dep, better pen, better turret armor (and smaller too). While playing style remains more or less same.

Is there any info about what modules are hit most of (other than tracks) 59-Patton gets ammoracked some times when short in the hull from the right Side (when the enemy is on your left) but out of 100 battles it has happened to me only 3 times and every time from a gun that deals more than 450 dmg.  Gun and turret is another buy very rare

The only thing it's got going for it is that it's not a Panther 88.

Its a Centurion. if it like all the others, the tank is an Ammo rack.

However, I just bought one... Was waiting for the 5/1 for as wasnt playing WoT when it came out.

All the Centurions share the same ammo rack weakspot on the lower glacis plate on the front left side of the hull. So Safe Stowage perk is quite necessary to reduce that.

The white area on the right side of the hull is the ammo rack location, don't ever peek with that side. Same applies to the T54 and T44.

The Centurion 5/1 RAAC, like all other Centurions, is a hulldown tank somewhere between a heavy and a medium. You use your slighty higher speed to get into a good positon before the heavy tanks get there, then use your low damage/high rof gun to grind away at the HP of enemy tanks who wont be able to hurt your impregnable turret. You only need to worry about getting flanked, scummed by artillery, or tanks with big guns shooting HE at the roof of your turret

On the right Side? How Come i've got ammoracked from the left Side every time? Can the shots travel to the ammoracks from the left side of the tank?

Sounds like a good tank for going hulldown, 59-Patton has the cupola so it limits the potential, but it can work in it favor if something like soviet/china heavy tries to shoot at the cupola from over 150m away by simply going back and forward when the enemy is on the side of the hull you can make the enemy miss their shots often as they aim above your tank so their aim is too high if you move a little.

Like last time the 5/1 was on sale, I don't need another tier 8 premium and I rarely play my British tanks these days and I have a Bromwell for crew training and I'm planning to keep the 7/1 once I grind through that and I'm sure there's a multitude of other valid reasons not to buy it.

It is a really good-looking model though.
