So, I've had a few friends come over and we played WoT.

One of them was playing this battle when it got pretty close, so I stepped in and took comand at about the time I decided to rightfully put that annoying ally T2 Medium to sleep. I've remained in a 1v1 with the enemy FCM36Pak40 and we met at a corner... and I lost the engagement...

Is there anyone that could tell me how I should've proceeded and what kind of play should I have made to win the engagement?

If i'm reading that right then probably leaving him alive to act as a decoy would have been a better idea.  Then it wouldn't have been 1v1.

Not to kill the only support you had for starters? As he did not even have 1K games under his belt. Even so they still work as bait or decoy.

That said, in a Pak vs Pak, you wait. It has 400m base view range. Pick an overwatch position and wait for the enemy Pak 40 to lose patience and come to you. If you seek it out, you will only get spotted first as he might have his camo up. Mine has 440m with a 100% base crew with no crew skills due to optics.  Even more so if I have a new crew in it and he perhaps doesn't. As you have no HP to trade, and 2 shots is all he needs. And then his potential BIA will def help him close up when you do meet.

You killed the 5th highest damage dealer in your team because you felt like it, then lost the 1v1 fight. Seems like a mixture of arrogance and karma to me.

Not been so utterly stupid as to kill your own teammate.

You're welcome.
