Why is it not forbidden to install all kinds of mods? Very disgusting game, because 95% of players play with banned mods.

why in other games there is a normal control of dishonest players? With changed or additional files, the game will not be able to run at all !!!

I do not want to spend money on such a rogue game!

Answer specifically, when can not no one else will be able to install additional mods?

At one point the game will be empty of unscrupulous players?

Any proof for this statistic? Or just blaming, shaming and crying?

Errrr no, that 95% figure is something you pulled out of your hoop.

Please tell us what banned mods you think are in game and how they affect your gameplay.

We don't have a huge problem will illegal mods we have a problem with paranoia, ie players utterly convinced something is true without any evidence.

It's simple: Most mods are not illegal. And Wargaming likes mods a lot, as they are implementing the best ideas into the standard user interface. Just take a look at an old client replay on youtube and then compare it with the modern vanilla client. This game has evolved a lot over the years and got lots of great ideas in form of mods from the community implemented.

But back to your topic. Yes, there are some illegal mods. We are speaking about things like this:

  • laserpointer from the enemies guns
  • displaying the old silhouette of a tank, which is now unspotted
  • displaying the silhouette of a tank without putting the crosshair on the tank
  • advanced aimbots with weaksport targeting and taking a lead
  • semitransperent skins with highlighted modules
  • reload counters for enemy tanks
  • marking of destroyed object on the minimap
  • marking of tracers and position of artillery
  • automatic scripts for things like making a manual fire extingisher work like an advanced one
  • elavating the gun of an artillery per cheat into a very steep angle, to shoot things behind rocks or buildings

And yes .... Wargaming has a very keen eye on the mod scene. There is a very realistic chance to get banned, when using forbidden mods.

How do I know all this? I had once a weird network problem, which let me spot tanks very late: You take a small peak around a corner and there are no tanks. Then you drive around that corner and your tank simply explodes. Looking at the smoking wreck of your tank, half of the enemy team gets finally rendered, just standing there, preaimed at that corner. As it turned out later, I had some hard paket losses and weird lag spikes. But at that moment, I was damn sure there must me some cheats involved. So I started to investigate.

Did I see active use of forbidden mods like those I listed? Yes I did! But very, very rarely. Most things could be explained by simple skill and good use of the spottings system. That beast I did not understand fully, when I used google and yandex to do my research years ago.

So, before you accuse 95% of all players of cheating, please consider the option, there are some very good players around. And sometimes folks just have luck.

now lock at https://wgmods.net/ offical approvment site wargaming noted.

Most packs include skin based modul highlighting - simply most used like aslan for example! And you can tell alot ppl use this .. last night we had a advance .. guy comes around the corner not shooting directly circling my tank with the turet going up and down .. fires - ammo rack  .. doing it again. Shame this mod is not punised by Wargaming because normal skin are legal.. how they wanna tell someone has a normal skin mod or a highlighting moduels/crew skin .. ? it is just a texture image .. bann all of em or none...

So this guy could never actually have worked out the best places to aim at your tank for himself, he HAD to be using a mod to do this?

not if hes searching for the spot and does it 2-3 times in a row and i dont believe you do this in a advance figuring out where you couldt hit a tank.

mean i play this game sinc eages and there are so much tanks out there - you do not remind 300+ tanks.. simply install a mod that shows it all! Mean i like mods like statistic counters, ingame clock, some tools like customising the ui and stuf. For example yas krassn ..  it dosnt giv you a advantage ingame. So i decided check out this aslan pack. You only have 1 installer .. sure whjy not. Now look a all this mods you have there. So much stuff that givs players advatage. And wargaming post this site on offical news! COmeone -- wtf

Sure he can do this on his own but i believe in the heat of a fight you are not going to circle a tank trying to find a spot to ammorack the tank risking your own expactly in a clangame like advances.

.. the point i want to make is that wargaming annouce a offical mod site that includes mods that gives you a advantage. The thing is if you give some players the option to cheat they gonna use it - here the developer itself approves cheating. Giving you a advantage ingame is like unsportsmanchip doping in olympics (russia and you know they are susspended).

Those are hit skins, silly baby stuff...not the illegal module one which shows a transparent tank with coloured 3D modules blocks inside.

Spoiler

You may think that mod should illegal, and I happen to agree with you, but WG doesn’t therefore it’s not cheating. Don’t blame players for using it, blame WG for allowing it.

no, it is not. your problem is that your lack of understanding for the game mechanics makes you overestimate the use of mods by a mile. just knowing where a module is roughly located doesn't mean you'll magically get 100% crit rate and it also doesn't disable RNG.maybe you sould try hitzone skins yourself befor making such stupid statements like "i can't do it, so if anybody else does it, it's a cheater".

I'm pretty sure when the regiments of the British Empire won various astoundingly 1 sided victories against spear throwing, grass skirt wearing warriors of any number of poor African tribes, those tribesmen were 100% convinced that at least 95% of the British soldiers were using illegal mods and hacking.

Stop whining, very few people use illegal mods, just learn the game mechanics and improve yourself.

pfff - you guys cant compete with default regular settings and speak mods that gives advantage legal. Couldt also say stop crying about ppl that want a fair competition!

Also i do not said that everyone who ammoracks me is a unskilled moduser but for sure some use this. Seems that people who try to blame me are thouched on the right nose.

There is an advantage to allowing mods while keeping an eye on what mods are used.

I use a few mods some probably give me a slight advantage others absolutely none.

I really hate that the vanilla sniper mode has no default zoom lvl, I have spent 6 years using a keyboard command to enter and exit sniper mode and mouse wheel to adjust the level.

About 5 years ago I found a mod that I could set the zoom to x2 when entering sniper mode and its great.

I also hate the gun sounds so have a mod for that too.

Also one that colour codes tank types in the player pane.Green for light grey for TD and so on

Maybe they give me a slight advantage maybe not but they make the game more pleasant and they are legal.

Thats the advantage for wargaming they allow players to tweak how the game looks it makes them happy so maybe they stay around longer and play more.

Are there players using illegal mods yes probably but I suspect not many losing access to the game permanently is a big risk to take for little reward.

If they got rid of the res mods folder there would still be mods

If they banned mods completely there would still be mods

Problem for the players is that its impossible to get evidence a mod is being used.

Something happens and a player decides it happened because someone cheated.

Same as if I shoot 6 premium rounds into your tank you can decide I am carrying 100% premium but all you know for sure is that I had 6
