That is something else. I have seen it before, but just WOW! Obviously he shouldn't go driving into the racking, but I (who knows bog-all about warehouse storage) reckon that there was some serious overloading and/or construction or design fault in that racking system. No way should one little nudge from a vehicle bring the lot crashing down.

And, no. I haven't read the back story to see what happened, so if anyone knows... Cool. :B

Honestly don't know

did some searching and found this, but i personally think it's a different incident, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3576799/At-one-person-missing-warehouse-collapsed-Shropshire.html?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark

still looking.

Then again this shelving looks correct so yeh i think he did survive and got out uninjured, https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/dudley/cradley/2017/11/04/man-rescued-after-collapse-at-food-warehouse/

Looks like one of the beams got dented quite a bit, which would weaken in structually, and pull on the pillar.

Which in turn would cause the load to shift, and gravity does the rest.

Imo, he shouldn't have made the decision to see if he could get past there and instead asked his coworkers to move the pallet wagon instead.

Or simply take a different lane.

He barely hit the shelf, he hit the pallet. That was already enough to deform one strut and make it all collapse.

Cheap flat metal shelf. Bonuspoints for massively overloading it with something that looked like heavy glass bottles.

We had one at work, too. But that one was bolted to the floor and roof, massive metal poles on the sides and a max load of below 2t. And the higher you get, the lower the max weight on the upper levels gets.

Surely this must be fake, if not someone really made a bad decision buying the cheap stuff...

Hm... reminds me, we had a near accident like that at work a few months back.

Fortunately, nothing bad happened, but it did give us quite a scare.

Smallish company, with the co-director being the one driving the forklift at the time.

Hit a plywood board laying ontop of the racks, making a dent in the wood.

Not sure if the metal got bend as well or not; if it did, it was really minor.
