The season for Holiday Ops!

See the year off right with World of Tanks’ biggest winter-time event. Make sure to tell us what you think about it in a comment below!

Christmas event is one if not the best each year. This years event is somewhat ruined by lafefefe spg and e25 in boxes.. Other than that not much to say. Skins look great tho.

P.S. nice to have last year's cammos as well, got only one. Cheers.

I'm hoping that unlike the previous thread about this, people can keep in mind that not everyone has been playing for 3, 5 or 7 (see what I did there?) years, with 20m in unspent credits and no desire for gold or any of the premium time.

For some newcomers, the gold, premium time and yes even credits can be of use, so personally I see this as a great event and as I've got no other hobby/game at the moment, I'll throw down some money.

That said, I would hate to see something like this if I were in that group of veterans and I think it’d be much better to have a store-wide discount on all items involved to remove the "luck" aspect of opening a box, that way all the customers win. Though I can see why WG has not implemented something like this...Loot boxes being all the rage these days.

Finally, I wonder if WG considered selling the skins separately so as not to force people to bother rolling the dice with the unwanted content? I’d be interested to know if any of the higher-ups looked into this.

As the skins are new for all, it's a safe bet that it would wind up making more money to have them available as individual purchases. Because from what I saw from the other thread, nobody complained about the quality of those skins, but at the same time very few who wanted them said they would be willing to risk spending money on a chance to get them...

Pro event. Good division of effort possibilities (xp, free xp, credits, crew xp) catering for all.

E25 was in the advent calendar last year so no biggie it being in loot boxes. Besides it needs gold ammo to be of much use, so it's no worse than the T-64.

hahaha, i feel your dissappointement fellow belgian friend, but i can only laugh when half the posts say "Its gamble, its unethical, it should be illegal, i wish WG got a lawsuit" and now i see players like you saying "Its unfair we are left out!!"

I am with your side however, dont take it personally. I dont believe there's anything bad with the lootboxes, on the contrary.

I dont know if its against the forum rules, but how does WG determine country of origin? Maybe by IP address?
Because this can easily be manipulated with a VPN.

I remember one MMO did it by the credit card as it disclosed where you lived. Euro players got round it by asking American friends to buy the game then ship the box to them.

Isn't any problem here with different servers?

Well that is always the problem when trying to prohibit things people might want.
One will work his way around it, propably exposing himself to bigger dangers and threads. For example pre-paying a stranger to send him a "gift" or even paying the "friend" a small commision for his services etc.
