Hello Commanders,

We’re starting the closed test for the first vehicle in the French armored car branch, the Panhard AMD 178B, which will sit at Tier VI.

001.jpg

It carries a 75-mm gun and has two axles (and four wheels). Of the wheeled vehicles’ new game mechanics, it offers only the special ‘magnet’ auto-aim. Two driving modes and the Charge ability are not available at this tier so that the vehicle isn’t overloaded with innovations and tankers get introduced to them step by step.

The closest ‘relatives’ the Panhard AMD 178B has gameplay-wise are light tanks. Yet it possesses better mobility and crosses difficult terrain with more ease. Also, it has good gun stabilization but limited view range and isn’t able to turn its hull in place. The armored car is vulnerable and should avoid face-to-face shoot-outs as it has neither armor nor firepower required for those. Its tactical niche is providing active spotting and fire support while relying on its swiftness.

Depending on test results, we may change the armored cars’ stats and/or mechanics. Stay tuned and may luck shine on you in every battle!

So...

-Similar or same top speed compared to other tier VI lights.

-Comparable gun to tier VI lights.

-Comparable mobility to tier VI lights.

-20% less VR

What is the point to this thing? It doesn't even have the mobility advantage that the other ACs have and yet it still has overkill nerfed view range.

Well, it has

- higher HP/t ratio than most T6 lights (only T-50-2 is comparable there)

- extreme backwards top-speed

- 12 degrees of gun-depression

- unknown softstats

And it's mainly intended as a introduction to the whole wheeled vehicle differences (controls, physics) and playstyle (aggressive yolo scouting).

Please, explain me how this tech tree will provide more active scouting and less damage hunting... as guns are quite decent and view range is terrible. Mobility + map design combination is more suitable for dealing damage than spotting with 300 - 320 meters view range. Terrain on most of maps won't allow to compensate poor view range using high max. speed... and passive scouts + mediums will overspot these easily. That will provide enough time to shoot wheeled vehicles.

Would think similar range like the AMX 12 t. Adding 10% means it would likely be in the 30-33k xp range.

Question: is the crew layout for this vehicle and the rest of the line going to be the same 4-(wo)man crew like the premium Panhard?

If wikipedia is correct then this had a 4 person crew.  Can't say if they have the same crew roles but this would be nice info to have in advance for those of us preparing for the line.

[edit] Just noticed wikipedia has it with 2 drivers.

[edit again] So does the EBR so panic over.

My guess is they are using radioman as assistant driver, like they do with machine gunners.

The main thing will be consistency down the line.

Important Note: The crew of wheeled tanks will be uniform for all vehicles to facilitate your progress in the game. All crews include a Commander (also fills the role of Loader), a Driver, a Gunner and a Radio Operator.

This is the information I have too, but I wanted to check the whole line to make sure there was no random change at higher tiers, unfortunately the CT server was delayed so I've not been able to check until today.
