This is really getting my back up 4 heavy tanks move across an open field and do not get spotted until there right up on to my position. This thing with invisable heavy tanks needs to be fixed.

That sounds amazing, would look awesome in a replay or recorded stream.

Edit

No I'm sir e us. It would be something to upload to YouTube, getting that sweet viewercount dough.

Japanese prank gone wrong, sneaky 4 tank bukakke, watch what happens next.

Pointless to comment anything without a replay, but I fixed the opening post a bit:

Spoiler

I am more worried about someone not knowing the spotting mechanics after almost 60k battles...

Well we'd ask you for the replay to showcase these uber-stealth heavies in action...

The only way for that to be possible is a bush between those heavies and you. Make sure you are close enough to see through them. I have never had the problem you're discribing btw.

Well atm we just have your word for it. I know there have been cases where packet loss was the cause for it. As spotting is still a server thing. But 9 out 10 times it's due to the spotter, or you being behind to much cover to even see anything. Last time we had a topic with "stealth" HT's. There was a tree line of standing trees blocking it first, then 4 rows of double bushes before they were spotted 75m away.

So... replay? Or did the dog eat it?

Does one of those youstubes have CK as their initials? A lot of misconception seems to be coming from that certain channel regarding spotting mechanics.

In all seriousness though, a replay would certainly help. I've been more and more convinced that these kind of situations have a lot to do with fallen down trees. If I'd get a volunteer to help, I could make a quick training room tutorial to clear out the spotting mechanics through a fallen down tree. In short, if the fallen tree is longer than 15m it will still work as camo and you aren't able to spot through it even though the tree renders as transparent. I haven't done tests yet to determine the rules for this, but empirical research in live battles has been working to determine quite accurately how it works and I've been able to use the mechanics to my advantage. And I've seen some streamers use this method too, for example on Paris map which I would do the training room testing too. On a side note, I am suspecting that bushes don't work as one dimensional objects either, especially the thicker ones and one could employ the same tactics for them too as with trees.

So if there is any volunteers to do the testing in training room, I'll be happy. :)

That's not true at all...he could have been hiding behind a building and then proximity spotted them.

What I'm not clear on is whether the OP is upset about the fact that no-one in his team spotted them first, or that he should have spotted them earlier. Without a replay or even knowing what tank he was driving, what heavies he was talking about, or indeed any information that could be construed as helpful, this whole thread is pointless.

Again, how are we meant to come up with a constructive answer when your opening post has zero information to work with?

Get some common sense, please.

Activate replays in the gameoptions and show us that replay if you think it happened again.

And what exactly did the youtubers you mentioned post?

Hiding behind a rock stops you from seeing them as much as it stops them seeing you.  This thing with people thinking they can spot from the 3rd person camera viewpoint needs to be fixed.

There would probably be a little more sympathy if the quality of the posts had slightly more substance than 'a thing happened'.

I saw Dikkeh0nd in a battle last night, after the countdown finished his tank took off vertically and he strafed our team repeatedly with a combination of laser cannons and quantum missiles, we never stood a chance! This sort of thing shouldn't be allowed!

I'm sure you don't need a replay or screenshot to corroborate my story, right?

The bush mechanics in this game should be reworked though.
*edited*
In general, bushes should get nerfed by like 50%+
They shouldn't stack in an additional way.
the camo box of the bush should also be in line with the visual outline aswell as the visual density of the bush be in line with the camo values it gives.

Given most peoples tendency towards hyperbole when discussing such issues.  A reasonable confirmation of said issue, is a replay.  In all of my games I have never seen a tank cover 300 meters un-spotted without there being a reasonable explanation that utilises the known spotting mechanics.

If you understand the spotting mechanics you should be able to tell/explain us what exactly did (not) happen..or at least provide a replay so we all can have a look. Best guess so far: No one of your team had a direct line of sight on the path the enemies drove so they could cross the field unspotted.
