I had this question in my mind since 1.0 came out... What's the real reason behind all these drop down punishing rocks on pretty much all of the hills? The only thing it does is that it limits the choices more and punishes creative, often aggresive play. For example rocks on Mines map hill, airport balcony and many other important locations. Often trying to escape such place ends with damage taken or even with vehicle destroyed.

So my question is. What is WG seeking of it? Is it a credit sink, just for the looks, or a gameplay enchancing feature?

I would imagine limiting choices would have been uppermost in the map designers mind. Otherwise if you could just drop off a cliff without damage the map may as well have been made flat. And you know there is a reason children play in sandpits, it's because if they fall over they are safe, it's not hard ground. So you talk about being 'creative' and 'aggressive' but want the maps to be like children's sandpits, maps for babies to play on where players can't be hurt, instead of them learning the safe drop off points and using those 'creatively and aggressively'. You are clearly a good player yourself, but it's a bit distasteful you wanting the game made even easier for you.

Rocks are strange since 1.0. *edited* make me crazy sometimes. Sometimes I come down from 5m height no dmg, once dropping from 2m killed me (in obj 140). I noticed that you must try to land on your tracks to absorb the dmg, otherwise, you get massive dmg or die.

Yeah, I have been thinking about that too.

Also, what is the deal with the water death traps, with sudden death drops just centimetres away from the shore? What's wrong with just making the water getting deeper more gradually, so you will drawn if you go too far, but you won't slip down the 50 meters slope of no return. Is that the same kind of "feature", same purpose, whatever that purpose is?

Honestly, I've disliked these rocks everywhere since 1.0 was released, there are pretty much no safe areas anymore to drop down on all maps which handicaps gameplay and makes things much more predictable and boring.

There would have been nothing lost if all hill-sides would have had rock structure applied (indents etc.) while the hitbox was smooth so you could drive down.

2 simple answers:

Think, don't drink and drive!

Think, that text or phone call can wait!

One of my favourite support areas for TDs and bottom-tier tanks was the edge of Cliff on the J line. It would be J8 or thereabouts. Plenty of room to back down out of sight, play hull down against tanks coming around the hill and bait LTs on the hill.

Now it is about 10 metres long with rocks made of ice and it is USELESS as a fighting spot. I've fallen off there twice and just don't go there any longer. Well done, WG.

I won't argue about the realism- or otherwise- of the nature of tanks on rocks, just the way that WG has changed things in this way.

While i understand that the obstacles are there to prevent people from cheesy play - at times it gets too silly.

It reminds me of troll rolling in Skyrim ...

Some slopes look way too inviting and end up way too punishing.

Mines is a good example, Cliff, Tundra, there are plenty. This should be looked at at some point, maybe the wheeled vehicles will bruteforce some changes.

*edited* Then we would have to make another clan for the Cheerful, Sarcastic Dingers.  Then another one for the Gay Crossdressing Dingers. And another one for the Bearded Weirdo Dingers.  Brony Dingers, Furry Dingers, etc...

I mean, it's bad enuff we already splintered off with the bloody Dongers.

Din't say the answer was not to the point, just the added sarcastic, and belittling the OP(kid playing in sandpit comment) for no reason.other than being nasty.I thought you Dingers were meant to be the fish drawing friendly clan.
