I just discovered something today. I have a replay where the enemy killed my entire crew, and I still had hit points remaining. What I noticed upon watching the replay today is that the enemy was credited with the kill, the score became 0 to 1, no one on my team had died other than my crew. So yes, you can earn a kill without killing the enemy tank.

So you showed an old replay posted on youtube 3 years ago running explaining what happened, and you learned it today?

Well when your crew all gets taken out. Your tank can no longer be operated, and thus treated and marked as dead. It's why the camera jumped to the T2 LT right after, before going back to your tank again. So you can't even revive anyone with a medkit at that point. As no one is alive to use it on anyone. The damage done after that point is not rewarding any XP to the enemy team. As the one that took out your crew got XP for the remaining HP you had. So others hitting you or even him hitting you more won't reweard him with more XP once all your crew is dead.

It's the same if you drown someone and you get credited for it. It's the only way to get a kill when you have done zero damage. And you still get the XP for it. And damage done after on the wreck won't give others more XP either.

It happens, not very often but it happens, more likely in low tiers with small crews, health kit doesn't matter, crew are all KO'd so which one is going to heal the others? Your tank is no longer capable of taking any action due to lack of crew , so its counted as dead. Its happened to me 2 or 3 times in 25k+, not very often, but if you really have had only 250 battles in 2yrs you may not have come across it before.

Edit. Must be p***ed, looks like it took 10 min to type that.

You can still increase your damage by shooting the dead tank, even without receiving additional XP, I assume?

BTW, one other scenario this can happen is overturned vehicles I think? (i.e. similar to drowning as you mentioned)

Yeah. It is known.

Happened quite often in the past, was a good mix of fun and annoyance. I always hoped that WG would turn it into something interesting, so that you could fake your crew's death and then shoot the enemies from behind...

Old news.

I had such situations as well while driving H35 (tier II light tank).

I remember it happening a few times at tier 1 and 2. It's perfectly understandable and doesn't need an elaborate explanation never mind a YT video of it.
