Hi guys,

I have 8 female crew members I need to deploy, and was keen to start them off at the base of a new line and develop them through.  However the only line I have left to do this on (excluding arty) is the French TDs, a line I have never really fancied.

What do you reckon, is it a line worth playing?  All insights welcome!

Cheers,

Having a clip with an accurate gun on a TD is definitely novel and an interesting feature but the line itself is not really strong especially the tier 10 Foch B. Tier 9 Foch is the highlight and it's a really strong TD for its tier same as with many other tanks.

Tier 7 is the worst vehicle in this line IMO, it's just useless in most situations!

Fun video to help you decide...

I am up to the tier 8, seems quite an underwhelming line for me till now.

Its worst feature is the restricted left/right gun arcs, I ve read the autoloader tier 9 is pretty good though.

AMX50 Foch is where fun starts... everything before it is agony. :)

I think they mostly suck. (Grinded through before tier 8 and 9 got autoloaders).

However, the tier 6, ARL-something is great at farming M badges for that alliance mission...
oh, and the ARL gets nice prem ammo with higher alpha for some reason

I guess it's not as bad as it used to be (oh god was it bad). But no.

For those of you with the experience, how does the French TD line compare to the Badger line as I've read that's also not a fun grind with a disappointing Tier X TD?

Badger is not a disappointing tier 10 TD, it's just meh. If you want a stonewall TD with big alpha then the E3 is just better. Supposedly the Badger excels in the DPM department but with the relatively low pen it's hard to realize that DPM.

As for the grind, british TDs have low alpha, good DPM, bad mobility and some armor. The effectiveness of that armor is questionable till you reach the tier 9 tortoise.

French tier 8, 9 and 10 TDs are built around an autoloading 120 mm gun also with relatively low pen and some armor all in the wrong places! They have good mobility and the clip potential forces you to plan ahead and choose your targets, something you might enjoy.

The biggest difference in grinding is at tier 8 once you unlock the autoloader - before that it is the tier 7 one only worse xD

Thanks all for your views.  Still don't feel inspired to try, but frankly there is nothing else left other than arty.  Maybe wait for the Swedish medium line.  But I do have 8 girls to deploy, so....

Mid and low tiers? No not really. For me the line did not start until tier 9. And that was before the clip guns was added. It would not waste more then one female on it, take the crew up as you go and spread the rest across tanks that needs a BIA crew or commander with bia etc.

As you do also have the Swedish med line coming. And the French wheeled tanks.

Its not that the Badger is bad, its just painfully boring to play. Pretty much goes for most of the line.

@OP

I wouldn't say the french TDs are worth it. It has a fun tier 5, but thats about all the merit the line holds.

Im at the tier 7, truly afwul. The tier 6 was better. Tier 8 looks awful as well. Tier 9 starts to look better.

Do your self a huge favour and don't go near them , they are not worth the time at all, outdated tanks that was good in a meta some 4 years ago , today they are relics of the past.

Ground through the line before it got changed and it was rubbish. Can't offer too much insight these days, but it still seems rather underwhelming as far as I can see.

Your goal is AMX 50 Foch (tier IX) - you get (barely worse) gun from tier X heavy on tier IX tank with quite decent armour (at the distance). It's fast and fun to play. You can camp, you can snipe, you can brawl. If you want a fun tier IX TD - it's a good choice.

Along the way you have awful tier IV - but it has a derp gun so it's still decent, tier V bathtub with gloriously overpowered 105 mm gun, tier VI potato with tracks which is decent with 105 mm and healthy dose of APCR, tier VII which is a french Jagdpanther (quite bad but manageable) and tier VIII that's both good (because barely anybody expect this to have autlooading 120 mm gun) and awful (uses an extra gunner for some reason that sits in the AA turret in the back of the vehicle, gun is potato, armour doesn't work and you have 1k HP). But tier VIII has its moments - if only MM wasn't so bad. 1200 clip damage is quite something when you face tier VII tanks - not so much vs tier X.

I think this line is worth using one of your females as commander. You shouldn't be using full-female crews anyway because it's a waste. Use them only as commanders, sometimes gunners (commander has the most useful skills and often performs other roles so there is a lot of skills to learn on it).
