I have long be wondering why the management of the crew on the garage is so counter-intuitive.

Sure the crew and it setup works fine in the battles, yet the way some are the tech trees and tanks are set up is dumb from at levelling perspective.

You might have a tree where the radio operator job moves from one crew member to another as you go up the tech tree.

And then the is the fact that a 3 man crew takes longer to get the same amount of crew skills as a 5 man tank.

Now it may be intentional that 3 men tanks are worse off crew-skill wise and WG want you to spent as much gold a possible when transferring crew from one tank to the next.

But it could be made a lot simpler.

By having the commander managing all skill and levelling. And have the other crewmember be lock to the tank.

So each commander will always be training one Commander ,Gunner, Driver, Radio Operator and Loader skill no matter the crew setup.

So we have the same levelling curve for all tanks.

In battle each crewmember will use the skills of their role. So if a gunner is dead, you lose the gunnery skills.

So there is not change how the crew works in the battle when compared to now.

You will only have to manage one crewmember per tank, this will make move crew around and retraining easier.

This might increase the cost of retaining a crew member, but as it the same as retraining the hole crew that should be ok.

How do we manage the change? Well that easy, the xp of none commanders becomes a XP skill boost that can be give the any commander form that country

For example let's change a German E50 gunner with 3 crew skill to the new system.

First the name and portrait will be locked to the E50 gunner spot. And you may change this if you want, you can even change a male portrait to a female.

All the XP will be change in to a Gunner XP boost that can be given to any German commander.

What about female/reward crew?

Commanders will become commander's with matching XP/ commander skill of the current version.
The Gunner, Driver, Radio Operator and Loader will have 0 XP and skills.

None commanders will be locked to the tank they are assigned to and will have the skills change to XP boosts.

And if a none commander crew can not be lock to a tank (Perhaps because you don't have the tank in the garage) then the name and portrait will be lost.

The XP boost will still remain for use.

They talked about changing it to a commander only crew but why take away one of the interesting parts of the game?

It makes sense in warboats because you don't want to be managing the skills of 1800 crew members.  In tanks it adds a level of depth and complexity which I like.
