Not really , wait til they buff the IS-4, only then can you truly tell if it's worth it. ST-I is nothing magical,

yes St-1 is still worth it, even after armor nerf when they made it to HD model.

The torture tank of the line is KV-3. KV-4 is actually well balanced and can still be relevant as bottom tier thanks to tier 10 side armour and 289pen APCR premium.

ST-I itself is a really nice tank. Good at both hulldown and sidescrape, has decent alpha and good penetration on both rounds. Is probably the best tank on the line at the moment. Would recomend it over almost all the other tier 9 HTs. :)

ST-I is like a better version of IS-4. It is a nice tier 9 heavy. KV-4 also has its moments, but I think Urquan knows more about it. :teethhappy:

I liked KV-4 after KV-3 much. Did free exp top gun (and maybe tracks) tho. ST-I was more forgiving than KV-4, and I managed to do moderately well in it... Very non-soviet heavy, good gun dep and quite agreeable gun handling, even tho nothing special. Little on the sluggish side. Turret top notch, and less punishing hull than, say, canaervon. Pen is fine for 122mm t9, HEAT 340mm.

KV-4 is a fun tank to play and actually one of the few heavies in this game that truly need skill to be played as your angling is super important. If you get it a couple of degrees off your armor won't work properly anymore.

Honestly I wish more heavies were like the KV-4 where bad players just get penned over and over but good players can block more then their own HP on average each match because they know what they are doing.

ST-1, don't know as I had the IS-4 before it became T10 so never had to play it.

Yes you should go for it. Mostly if you already got thru the IS-7 line already so you would have most of the modules available.

KV-3 is ok, is not so bad as people say it is. It is a slightly worse version of IS, Has better side and turret armor but worse speed. I think that a good player can do very well in it.

Same story with KV-4 that has imune sides even to Tier 10 tanks.

ST-I is still very relevant with very trollish frontal armor and a beast of a turret with very good gun depression for a russian tank. The gun imo is awesome but to make it work great you need a very good crew because with a stock crew the top gun is a nerfed T-10 gun, not sure why is that because both tanks use the same gun...but overall it is worth it. It is still the gem of the line that can still compete against the new powercreep tanks.

This is what I am learning myself now I am on the KV-4. I need some training room sessions with UQ methinks :B

Angle the turret slightly less then the hull compared to your target, don't use the same angle.

The best angle on the hull is when the corner of the top plate (under the turret) is pointing at your enemy and your turret is angled slightly less then that).

Go on tanks GG, put the 3D model to "live" and now angle it until the side plate at the front is still red, just before it starts to turn yellow, that is the ideal hull angle.

Now angle the turret towards the camera until the front-side plate is red. That is the ideal turret angle.

Now tilt your camera upwards and see how it's angled towards the camera (enemy).

KV4 is terrible. ST-I is a tier 9 heavy so due to MM, its almost impossible for it to be sh*t. IS-4 is regarded as one of the worst tier 10 heavies. I wouldnt bother

ST-I is a relic from 2011, when heavy tanks had bad gun handling and DPM.

It's still decent tank, but newer tanks like Conqueror are way better.

well is-4 doesnt need much to be good, just a little tweaks to hull armor and overmatching plate on the room removed, but even though its totally powercreeped, by recent stats, its winrate is tsill better than t110e5, e100 and Pz 7

IMO what kills the tank is bad gun handling and very low shell count/max damage output while armour still quite reliable and solid.

I would buff ammo count to 40 and slightly buff DPM or chnage the gun with the 130mm from 277 and buff ammo to 35. In any case, gun handling should be greatly improved.

i still suspect that rumors might be correct and is-4 will get downtiered back to tier 9 and we will get some kind of super st-1 at tier 10.

While a slightly buffed ST-I may be a good tier 10, it will make the line a complete mess crew wise. As it is now, we have 6 man at tier 8, 5 at tier 9 and 4 at tier 10.

If they swap IS-4 amd ST-I we wold get 6 crew member at tier 8, down to 4 at tier 9 and again up to 5 at tier 10!

Hope they keep the line as it is, just buffing the tanks that need it without making them noobproof.

The old IS-4 was awesome at tier 9 but honestly, that armor won't work anymore in 2018 WoT with all the super high pen guns in the game. Back in those days you only had T9 meds max as far as I remember and the max pen on those was something like 220 (premium ammo was still gold and thus hardly ever fired in randoms), nowadays with 268 pen on most stuff over tier 9 the amor is far less impressive.

Basically the IS-4 should be moved to tier 9 in it's current state and not touched at all apart from a HP reduction to work at tier 9.

It's a good tank. I own  it and I play it sometimes. And, even if it is russian, it has a good gun depression which can help you are lot.  I guess it is one of the best Tier 9 heavies.
