So, started the French TD line the other day (it was that or arty...), and all was going swimmingly until I hit the Somua SAu 40.  My god what a nightmare.  I usually manage a nice round score in this, i.e., 0 damage, 0 assists, 0 spotted, 0 bounces.  OK, it is still stock and may get better with a decent gun on it (I suspect no, the lack of mobility is a killer), but for me this is the worst tank I have ever taken into battle.

Nah there are worse tanks, even at Tier IV (that utterly pathetic Polish thing comes to mind). At least the SAu gets a good gun and can influence things a bit.

Honestly I kinda like it for having a 105mm which isn't plagued with slow-motion shells that will arc straight over the frigging target.

the sAu isn't entirely bad.. you get a 105mm with HE vs targets with 30mm armour for the most part. if you actually hit the target, your most likely going to one shot it

and if you fire at T6's your also not completely useless, as its the same kind of HE that the M4 Sherman and 4H get a tier higher

worst tank? Tiger P? AC 46? JPanther 2? oh I could probably name a few more...….

I nominate the stock ST-I then, 175mm pen on a T9 heavy with a meh turret (stock turret is meh). Nnnnope. Time to shed some free XP on that thing. Or grind the IS-3 first.

How about stock SU101? A T VIII TD with 175 pen and 240 damage IIRC. I think the list of tanks with horrible grinds is long but I'm more talking about the XP needed to get out of that misery. T28 prot definitely made me almost cry. Funny thing is that same gun sucks on T30 to the point I spent 60k free XP just to get the top gun.

Everyone that hasn't mentioned Churchill GC didn't play it yet.

I agree... I stopped playing my Churchill Gun Carrier after 14 games...
My stats in it were only going to go downhill from then on... 78.6% WR and a Kolabanov's Medal...

Tanks I had a very bad time in;

Type 95

Sturer Emil (it badly needs the top boom gun)

AM65T

Lorraine 40T - when first moved to tier IX and prior to three rounds of buffs (it's great on tier VIII).

SAu 40 - I hated this and in the same style also did not like Ikv 103 ,and never that keen on the similar playstyle alecto.

Also not very nice ARL V39 and AMX AC mle.46. But for a really bad TD to play the pre-buff Challenger, it really was a challenge.

None of the French TDs are anything to shout about, but overall worst of the worst for me is still Sturer Emil.

Am I the only who bought and suffers through Skoda T-40 over here ? This might be The Worst Tank I've ever played in this game.

PS: I did play and enjoy AMX 40, this "Light Tank" is so weird that it's actually fun.

Thinking on my experiences, there are some real dogs in the lower tiers (Type 91 for example I thought was much worse than the Type 95), but you play through them so quickly that they don't leave a lasting impression...
The Sturer Emil has been mentioned a lot... but I thought it was better than the Jagdpanther...

The tank I am having the hardest time grinding is the Ferdinand, I just can't seem to find anything good about it, it is slow to move, slow to turn, guns are nothing fancy and it's armour isn't good when playing bottom tier in a 3/5/7 as T10, T9 and T8 gold spam ammo will penetrate with ease

Agreed, for some reason i  prefer it over the RHM at tier 8, am thinking of re-buying the St. Emil after unlocking the grille and moving the crew back to tier 7, although i might not have been the best player with it, it sure is fun :)

I honestly still remember my ST Emil grind with hatred, I found the M3 a much better tank to grind.

The ST Emil is the only tank I have ever gone to the Prem shop bought a load of gold and just free passed it. It was awful.

Notable 2nd is the WZ120

I reckon the AMX CDC is pretty high up the list of most awful tank too... all that lovely HE about it literally doubles the enemies DPM and I think the ammo rack and crew sit on the outside of the tank :)

Stock? 100% agree. Elite? I can't say I hated the St.Emil then. For me that was a grind I hated going into. But loved it going out of it. Unlike other tanks that were bad even in an elite state.

Take the AMX 65t that is my most hated tank. I played that with both the stock turret and gun. TVP VTU, stock turret and the middle gun to find some enjoyment of functionality for my style. Elite don't always make them better either.

M3 Lee. Didn't help I had no idea about the game mechanics back then either.

Actually I think the M3 Lee might have been the tank that got me into watching YT video's and visiting the forum to figure out how to play it... so I guess thats a good thing.

Didn't play the Churchill GC yet btw...

Black Prince is currently sitting at 57% winrate in my garage, Ace tanker mastery (prolly not hard to get given people hate BP so much).
Churchill VII 56% winrate with one MOE and first-class mark.

Churchill GC is admittedly only 45% with a first-class, but a GREAT many of those loses will have been grinding out the top gun for it; and the stock gun on it is terribad and everything bounces it (same story with the AT-7 that I've gone from 42% WR and managed to claw back to 53%).

Churchill 1's only at 49% WR, but he had crews <100%, no upgrades, and a load of matches of me trying to derp around with the mortar on it.

M3 Lee and Grant - both Ace Tanker masteries; winrates are low (48 and 43% respectively) - but that's mainly down to me brute-forcing the grind through them with 50% crews back-in-the-day, pretty sure if I invest more time into them (which I will when I can justify it) it won't be hard to get their WRs up to 50%

I think people are pretty far off criticising these tanks, when you have stuff like Easy-Eights (My Fury's at 41% WR compared to my Sherman Jumbo's 52%) and the Caernarvon AX (44% WR, compared to my Tiger P's 56%, which is down from yesterday's ~65% after a series of bad games earlier today).

What about the Tiger 2? How miserable it is to take this old lady for a spin in tier 8 9 or 10...  :arta:

British Medium mkII by a mile. Big, slow and with tissue paper armour that any machine gun will tear to shreds. Its the worst tier 1 tank by far, copy and pasted at tier 2.

Question, if press this, am I gonna regret it? When I first started playing I thought this was the ugliest tank in the game and I can see its pretty damn slow but at least its got armour. I'm just wondering how the grind is in this thing before I potentially regret wasting 2.5M credits.

I’m liking it so far, but then again I had everything except the tracks already unlocked (which I free xp’d).

Works with the corridor and city maps, armor holds up except against jap heavies andd gold spam.

It used to be quite crap, it got buffed somewhat recently and now a days it's quite nice, but as every other tier 8 it suffers from the 3-5-7 MM curse.

Ikv 103 is great!
Medium 3 as well.
Churchill GC is the worst tank ever. Just believe me, litteraly everyone thinks that.
