Let me guess, you got it from a box? :D Grats.

IIRC I put Rammer, Vents, Vert Stab on mine.

As far as crew perks go, I've got a 4 skill crew from my Obj. 260...BiA, Clutch Braking, Offroad Driving, Repairs, Snap Shot, etc.

If you don't know what equipment or crew skill use, just look at the russian wiki, and copy their suggestion.

So when you google you arrive here :

http://wiki.wargamin...134_Object_252U

Then just replace the /en/ by /ru/ and ... tada !

http://wiki.wargamin...134_Object_252U

Hints are below on the left of the page.

It will be ok, don't over think about it, ancient one.

That's...honestly the only thing you won't need when in a Defender. :D

The most important Defender equipment for the crew compartment is a portrait of Stalin for good RNG.

Should I use Gun Laying Drive instead of Vents? BIA is first skill?

No, use a GLD, instead of Vert Stabilisers
Vertical Stabilisers decrease reticle bloom when moving so decreases aim time
Gun Laying Drive makes the reticle get smaller quicker so decreases aim time
so these are two ways of doing the same thing
Vents improve all your crew skills, so put them on every tank that you can (all those without open turrets)

No, Vert Stabs always over vents, if the tank can mount both. Vert stabs always get to full accuracy faster than vents.

For OP, as for crew skills in a russian hvy;

1st skill;  commander 6th sense, rest repairs.

2nd skill ; commander repairs, gunner snap shot, driver smooth ride, loader whatever (if you like, retrain for safe stowage and train repairs)

once 3rd skill is up to 75%, retrain for BIA for all ; cmdr BIA, 6th sense, repairs ; gunner BIA, repairs, snap shot, driver BIA, repairs, smooth ride, loader BIA, safe stowage, repairs

Vents increase accuracy a little, which is very needed on any Soviet heavy...

Train 6th sense and Repairs first, BiA as 2nd skill, repairs 3rd on Commander, then go for the essential gunner/driver skills such as Snapshot, Clutch Braking, etc.

NO

v.stab is always first, followed by rammer. Then depending on crew perks either optics or vents. GLD is sub-optimal for moving vehicles.

crew;

train repair on all to 100%. Repairs is one of the few perks that begins to have an immediate effect even if it is only on 1-2%, BIA has zero effect until it gets to 100%.

re-skill the perks (gold or silver)

commander = sixth sense

snap shoot & smooth ride = these two together at 100% give almost the same bonus as a second v.stab, so combined are effectively similar to having a fourth piece of equipment.

Safe stowage.

set repairs to 0% on the second perk and build again to 100%.

Once second perk repairs at 100% consider re-training. You could take BIA, and re-set third perk at 0% to repairs, or leave all second perk at 100% repairs (because this is a frontline brawling heavy) and take perks that begin to have an effect from 1% (BIA does not), and re-train BIA when third perks reach 100%.

The russian wiki says VStab + Rammer + GLD, and for once they don't suggest multiple builds.

So if I had a defender I'll go for that.

My defender with Vent is performing better than 252 u with optics by `~ 400 avg damage

Optics on a heavy are preposterous.
