Recently an old friend of mine recovered his old account and we started to play. He hasn't advanced much in the tech tree(highest tier in the TT was II) so we platooned on tier II. He was going with the Panzer II with the automatic gun.

In one battle I was in his line of fire and he accidentally shot and killed me(he hasn't played wot for about 5 years). I wish I saved that replay. He automatically turned blue and the automated system removed him from the battle and disconnected him from the server. He got banned for straight up 3 MONTHS. And we were in a platoon with low tiers! Nice job Wargaming for greeting the new players.

At least you can revisit the friendly fire system for the lower tiers and the automatic guns.

Broken?

Sounds like it worked fine.  Teamkiller got banned.

Or are you saying that anyone who creates a new account should be able to go around teamkilling people as long as they do it with autocannons?  And if they did that then how many troll accounts do you think would be created?

Nope, you friend is a notorious teamdamager..you wont get banned for 3 months doing nothing...Since he is only at tier II start a new account on which you he doesnt shoot green tanks.

And where is his replay? Since he is banned it should be a temp.wotreplay file in his replay folder.  you got 3 months to upload it....

I never team damage, once i played with a friend a platoon in tier 2 and emptied a full clip of my T2 light on him and TKed him

for shits and giggles, i didn't even turn blue...

You or your friend is not telling us something...

three month ban means your friend was happily teamkilling before he left WoT.

there is a list somewhere of rising penalties and 3 months is a very long way down the road.

not sure but I think the next one is perma bann

3 months? So that means he has been banned multiple times before as a repeat offender with regards to team kills. As the first ban is just an hour, and most learn how it works after that. And I suspect not all of those was mishaps, were they? And I suspect you have no replay of it either right? As for all we know he did it deliberately.

I would not call someone having been banned for 1 hour, then 1 day, then a 1 week and one month after that a new player that don't know better. As we said, 3 months is not a first time offense.

I doubt it would help much considering how many times he has been banned for it as it.

That said, the system goes on by how many times you hit the target, not by how much damage you do etc. And sure with low tier clip guns, it can be a bit more tricky. But since there is no perfect system that can see the difference between mishaps, and a deliberate attack with such guns. It's left as is.

My wife damages pretty often at low tier, she never got banned though.

I agree that teamdamage in platoon shouldn't count, however sounds strange a long ban for an accident :harp:

Interesting. At least a few years ago there was a rule that one could damage his platoonmates as much as he wanted, it didn't count as team damage. I suppose this (admittedly strange) rule was revoked when they introduced on-the-fly platoon formation?

Works perfectly by the sounds of it.

Also, I think he might have been a repeat offender before his break, since the penalty only gets less if you play a lot without shooting the greens.

About time they started cracking down on lunatic, team-killing platoons.

There does seem to be a lot of them.

As others have mentioned, you do not get a 3 month suspension for a first-time offense. Or at the very least you shouldn't. If you're both convinced it really was a first time, then all you can do is raise a ticket with support and ask them to check. I doubt they will, but no one here can help you unfortunately.

Out of curiosity though: why can't your friend post about it him/herself?

True enough I accidentally slammed a 122mm round into the side of a teammate yesterday and killed him in a melee. No ban happened here. I’m usually getting the badge for 50 games without damaging team mates

You can pick up multiple one hour bans provided you behave yourself in between, to get banned for three months your friend has made an absolute arse of himself consistently over a long period. He fully deserves his 3 month ban, tell him he should use the time productively to grow up.
