Noticed lately that there's ALOT of toxicity towards better players (i.e 55%+) in this game. I used to play Starcraft 2 and the Age of Empires series and rarely noticed anything like it, is it isolated to the WoT scene, or is it merely an overdose of Dunning-Krugers?

Maybe part of it is due to the better players thinking they can insult us plebs because of their stats. Just a thought?

Of course there is...…...when you were a young child did you ever get jealous of the boy at school who had the best trainers or better toys? Many players have the mind set of a child because they are children!

The sad thing is much of the toxicity is invisible. Children report you whilst remaining silent just because you killed them in game.

To avoid this child behaviour you must play the game at night. Playing now for example is a complete unproductive waste of time.

There is toxicity towards everyone in this game, and how did you notice that after only 38k battles.

The toxicity is mutual, and it's often the better players insulting the worse ones.

I should know...

You must have played a different SC2 then I did. As I've played it since day one. And I see it constantly there. It got worse there after it went f2p and co-op commander event was added. As that's where we see it the most now.

But at times it doesn't matter how good or bad you are. You are still not doing what they want, or helping them or spotting for them vs the other flank etc. And you not doing what they want to play the way they need is what matters. Not how good you are. It's the same for every online game. If you don't help them. You might get a rage your way. Even if he was in a 1 vs 1. And the one you helped instead was in a 1 vs 3.

Nice to see you doing your bit to help reduce the us and them attitude.

While blunicums carry on like this then the play for fun players will carry on seeing you just looking after your own tank and not caring that the rest of the team die while you redline snipe.

Toxicity in the game towards good players ?....
Can't say I've noticed it myself but then, I guess most people don't know whether you are a good player or not - last game I was in only 6 people (including me) were using XVM so 80% of the players didn't know who had high XVM anyway...

I can say I have noticed total toxicity towards bad players who come on the forum...

The only kind of toxicity towards "good" players I've seen is "$&#?&%# GOLDSPAMMER!!!".

Note the "good".

It's always been there, there's actually much less of it after all chat was removed. You should see the amount of abuse I used to receive back in the old days.
Actually you can see a bit of it. I made an effort to record some of it back in 2015 or 2016. This is just a sample, about 30% of what I gathered in a matter of 4 or 5 days of playing.
Only the things directed at me, none of the abuse towards others.

Yeah it's something quite unique to WoT in the online games scene where good players are somehow seen as a bad thing and being good at the game is not something to aspire to. Doesn't help that this behaviour is indirectly supported by Wargaming by them among other things:

- Refusing to remove XVM stats from within matches.

- Layering as much RNG in the game as to take as much skill out of the equation as possible.

- Basing their balancing on the average/worst players of this game and thus artificially compensate for player deficiencies.

- Actively promoting tank classes requiring very little skill to play even mildly successfully while at the same artificially handicapping skill based classes.

As WG is not seen contributing in reducing the toxicity (all of it) but rather "letting it run it's course" as well as promoting it with the above points, it will just get worse and worse. But removing "all chat" did indeed help a little bit in reducing it.

Funny that players always compare WoT's toxic atmosphere against other games. LoL and Dota communities in particular are so toxic that I cannot even compare them to WoT. SC and Warcraft come good 3rd and 4th well before WoT. Equally poisonous is to engage in convo on any CS site. Good old ARMA2 version of Dayz was also very bad, bad place to be.

Most toxicity in any gaming comes from competiveness, good players suffer no mistakes from baddies and averages, and bad players blame anyone but themselves for being bad. Sad but normal.

No it isn't, piayers are just as salty in any other game you could care to name when they think someone is 'better' then them.

All your remarks are correct, but the... hatred? I suppose? I do not relate as I moderate myself... It is not one-sided.

They deserve it. Most of them ecpect other people to act as shields so they can farm dmg.

Why do I deserve verbal abuse from people when some other good player was a total tw*t towards others? This is just a vicious circle of toxicity you wish to create and keep up.

And good players don't really use others as meatshields. It might seem so when the good player realises that a flank will fall and relocates to a better location to defend. The worse players tend to not do that and end up soaking the damage. I tell people to ''Fall back!'' when it's needed, but maybe 1/1000 actually do that, rest just yell profanities to me while I try to fight for the win.
