IMO no.

The line has potato guns, bad gun dep sacrificed for sidescrape capabilities that are not that strong.

Pretty much any tier 9 are better than the tier 10 due to MM.

If you don't mind the MM then the 705a is an upgrade of the 705. They are very similar.

Yes, the tier 9 is optimal, this is where I stopped as well.

When I was grinding that line, between IS-M, Obj 705 and Obj 705a I hated regular 705 the most.

Let's see, it is slower than both IS-M and 705a (I'm generally not a fan of slow tanks), upper front plate gets penetrated fairly easy once enemies are close, front cheeks tend to get penetrated by HEAT even when side scraping. These things made 705 extremely frustrating for me. On the other hand 705a does not suffer from these problems, but it does have that 0.44 accuracy paired with long reload which can be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

This, the tier 9 705 is the worst tank in the line, IMO

That's quite interesting.. as tier 9 is considered to be the sweet spot in the game..

Is was wondering if I should go for the line to do blocking missions etc. Traverse speed is very bad I noticed, when testing is long ago, so you lose speed quickly and it's easy to get flanked. This thing is not the case in the PZ VII line at both tier 9 and 10, but they suffer from other problems.

The Obj. 705 at tier 9 is an excellent heavy brawler when able to sidescrape. Also in the open it can bounce quite a lot if you are wiggling or angling the hull. Playing a lot of tier 9 heavies myself, I can recommend this tank. Also the gun is quite good with nice alpha damage and decent pen.

Tier 10 is not worth it at all though. Tier 8 is quite good when fully researched.

I like the 705 and 705A myself....      Second Gun on the 705 is the Better of the 2, but Both do Work...     I skipped the IS-M because I really haven't heard anything Good about it and the Grind itself looked Miserable....

Hull on the 705 isn't too bad at all, between that and the Turret Armor I have Bounced 7500 Points with that Tank....     705A is even Better than that if I recall....

Exactly

I always thought that IS-M is the pos of the line but actually it is better tier by tier than 705.

The tier 9 has a nice gun that works well sometimes but the long reload + slow traverse + bad armor (even if on paper the armor looks good is not) make it worse than IS-M imo.

I find the IS-M horrible, you certainly should free xp to tracks/turret/engine/gun as it's an immobile death trap stock. And even then it still sucks unless you can have a corner on a flat road all for yourself. On a hill or any bump in the terrain the enemy have a full view of your lower front plate before you can see theirs, tier 9s load prem and shoot right trough anything front and the mobility to find cover isn't there.

I find the gun worse than the stats say. Shells don't go where I aim and dont pen if they do.

I'm not really an avid heavy tank player, but having recently finished IS-M and currently  in the 705, I've found that these tanks are quite decent. I am also grinding IX French single shot HT which I think is better.

I might be biased as the experience from driving French t8 makes most tanks seem great in comparison

It depends on the player.

If you're a normal person then it's probably not worth it.

You have to be a little weird in the sense that you like to make sub par things somehow work.

In other words, you have to understand you'd be competing against better tanks (meta stuff has better gun handling & precision & dpm & pen, and less weird turret placement), and nobody will want to have you driving those tanks on their team.

So if you're grinding that line you really have to want it, against all contrary incentives.

Anyway, good luck with your choice.

Not worth it. I am at the tier 9. Sidescraping is ok until gold is loaded. Also sidescraping is situational and with the number of tanks allowed in the maps and the few choke points sidescraping is very hard because of the room you get from other tanks.
