About as off-topic as you can get, but I feel the need for anonymous therapy.

Got home from work yesterday with Mrs Dead, just gone 5:30, to find two scumbags in the bedroom.

As we were pulling up, they had just drawn the curtains and switched the light on!

One assaulted Mrs Dead on his way out, the other I had pinned against the back door, but he managed to escape after a fist fight.

They dropped the pillowcase that they had used as a 'swag bag', but had obviously pocketed the 'good' stuff. Got away with around 7k's worth, including my wife's wedding ring that I had had made from 18K white gold. Not another one like it in the world.

The more I talk about it, the slightly easier it gets, hence bending your ear.

Thanks for listening, cheques in the post.

I'm guessing you an' the mrs are ok ?

Listen, I know in the coming days you're going to have a crap-load of crap going around your head...

'Could I have done things different?'

'Should I have confronted them?'

Whatever decision you made at the time, was the right one, for you.

You got away, I'm assuming, relatively unhurt. Things can be replaced. And that's what matters in these situations.

I would suggest talking to someone about this, delayed-shock, is a real thing.

Whatever you now decide to do, keep safe, friend.

And you have friends here that will help with whatever you need, a shoulder to cry on, some 'me' time, whatever, this forum will rally round you.

Terrible thing to happen. I hope you both don't dwell on it and fix/improve as best you can whatever access point was used to gain entry.

Such events can play on the mind and drive some people to worry all the time about safety to the point madness while forgetting it's a rare occurrence.

Both of you look after your mental health and I hope the police find those toe-rags and give them some porridge time.

We had a break in a few years back while we were at work

Fortunately no damage and the insurance company covered the cost of the items stolen

It did play on our minds for a while, but talking and eventually laughing about it helped

I also redecorated... sounds weird, but it helped "clean" the invasion of our home

Sorry to here that and I hope it doesn’t effect yourself and your better half too much.

Dear Dead... mh almost sounds like Dad  (nevermind that)

Loosing personal items is bad but please allways remember, things can be replaced, what really matters is that you are both well and unhurt.

(I hope you are).

if you or Mrs Dead feel the need to talk, we are here and listening.
