New Update 1.4(MultiCpu) any chance for my old laptop ? hp nc6400 ;)

The game was running before the 1.0 update, but not anymore. Will this update work for my stone age laptop ?

 

HP Compaq nc6400 RCTO 128M Base Unit

  • Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0 GHz processor
  • 2GB 667MHz DDRII RAM (upgraded to 2x1GB)
  • 750GB 7200rpm HDD
  • WXGA+ 1440×900 resolution 4 wire display
  • Intel 3945 abg wireless
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Dual pointing devices with keyboard
  • ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 512MB Hypermemory (128MB dedicated + 384 shared)
  • Multibay II DVD+/-RW
  • Integrated Fingerprint reader
  • Integrated Smart card reader

No. This update is about performance improvements for middle-class and high end gaming PCs, not stone-age system that can barely boot windows.

You can easily recycle that laptop as a defense tool/ projectile when you get assaulted on the streets or in your car.. easy peasy recycling.. everyone wud be like WOT the f••k?

Intel tests showed the weaker the hardware, the lower the gain.

Why not just download the 1.4 common test client and see for yourself? It's in public test at the moment so you can get it just by following the links in the 1.4 news article.

Not much point in wasting bandwidth. 1.0 likely stopped working for him due to his horribly outdated GPU (that chip is almost 15 years old by now), and/or the lack of memory, while this update is all about optimizing CPU usage.

potentially yes , clearly if you had a processor with at least 3-4 cores it was better, but even with only 2 you could see some improvements
