Hello there, I heard this tank is crap since it lost the autoloader during some patch. Post posts about this tank are from 2013 and so, I'd like to ask if this tank should skip certain modules with free XP. Anything particular that makes the tank tedious to grind?

Doesn't say much more in the wiki either except I should research tracks, then gun and turret, finally engine and radio, but I'll get the radios from the WZ-131 personally.

Will probably get a bit of flak for this but the autoloader was shite and was only really effective in tier 6 strongholds (or whatever that mode is called) where the garbage pen wasn't an issue.

The 59-16 atm is a pretty alright light, not the best that tier 6 has to offer but certainly playable. The stock 57mm isn't a bad stock gun, and if I'd have to play through it again I'd probably stick with this gun since it doesn't have the awful accuracy and shell velocity of the top 76mm. I'd prioritise the turret since you'll get more HP and more view range. Looking at the stock tracks on tanks.gg, you can still mount the top turret on the stock tracks, while having enough spare weight to mount rammer/optics/v.stab.

Stronk tenk.

Pros: camo, cannon, mobility

Cons: it's a light tank, so it's "balanced", at least WG thinks so

Use APCR because the ap gun shell velocity is pretty crap. Other than that was a joy to 3 mark using bushes and active spotting, it has very high camo,

My favorite tier 6 lt. Looks cool. I am only jealous of type 64 spot range.

Agile and good camo. Spot slightly weaker.

First time I saw that tank in game I immediately started grinding. But I am all about looks as long the tank performs well.

Its a decent tank, the only problem is that the type 64 is better in every single way, dont mind that though, i love my type.

Type 64 camo worse, bigger, more clumsy (turret traverse, power/weight ratio). Open turret, explosive bad for you and no vents.

Alright I'm grinding it stock. The first game wasn't a marvel but it has some awesome mobility. Definitely better than Leopard, but worse than MT-25. Seriously I don't know why I like the MT-25 so much when it has so poor stats and big size, but to me it feels like it's even better than a T21.

For now I got it some vents, rammer, optics and 100-oct gas. I'll probably change rammer or vents into vstab if I upgrade the gun, which I'm not sure about but anyway, the guns aren't that good. All I want right now is that sweet WZ-131.

My respect goes to anyone that can play the Type 64 I simply hated it by comparison..to me it felt like a gimped 59-16

Tips? Go back in time and play it when it had the autoloader and was fun. Now it is just a generic light tank because WG reasons.

I remember a game, several years ago, when a 59-16 player, after bouncing several premium shell and HE on my KV-4, asked me how was him supposed to damage me (was rossc team chat time). He didn't like the answer.

All this to say that I agree with you. :)

I 3marked this recently.

I must say, althought stats seem that type64 was hugely better in every single way, its not that bad.

Its a good fighter, it has a bit better camo, mobility dont look the stats its pretty much the same, or a bit better, and is smaller meaning it can dodge some enemy fire unlike type64 that is a big fat target. If you are lucky enought, from smaller caliber guns, you might get a lucky bounce.

However due to worse view range, and 4 crew, instead of 5, its much more skill intensive (both situational awareness/recon/food) to make view range adequate for the role.
I run with optics-vents-rammer, i needed to maximize view range/camo,and didnt care about the vert-stab for 0,2'' more aim time.

I didn't shot much gold, the usual 2/1 ratio.

  • I used rammer, V-stabs and optics.
  • Unlock modules in team battles. That way you'll play it fully upgraded in the more hostile environment of randoms.
  • While playing in TBs you'll get a feeling of what the tank can do, how the gun performs and how to use your camo/mobility.
  • You'll be picked easily in most teams since everyone wants to play tier 8s.
  • You need to get used to the shell velocity, even the APCR is slow (875 m/s).
  • Ammo capacity is not great and it fires fast so don't be trigger happy with that tank, i ran out of ammo a couple of times.
  • Start training your crew with camo and sixth sense for the commander. After that BIA and view range skills.
  • Take your time in the tier 6 and TBs till you've a good crew because chinese lights really shine with the added VR skills, camo and gun handling perks.

59-16 is a pretty damn good tank.

Great for stat padding also, 5k WN8 with 1100 DPG :medal:

I don't think it requires special tips, it's general tier 6 light tank, they play similar. It has good acceleration, so I often relocate, from bush to bush usually, sometimes sit and spot, take shot when opportunity comes and quickly escape -it is good for that tactic. Flank when possible, good for circling like most of lt. That's my way.
