If you go back to complete a mission "with Honors", do you have to complete the Primary mission again as well?

Thanks

Yes.

You must complete both mission conditions.

For the first campaign (StuG IV, T28HTC, T55A, Obj260), as well as Chimera in the second campaign, to get the honors you have to complete the primary and secondary objectives in the same battle. All missions are completed when achieving the mission goal once. Going back to a mission will not reset the "completed" status of the primary.

For the second campaign (Excalibur, Chimera, Obj279e), the missions require multiple battles to complete the primary and/or secondary objectives. Completing the secondaries is independent from the primary objectives, but achieving both in the same battle will give a bonus to the primary completion.

E.g. there might be a mission to make 3k damage 5 times as primary, win battle as secondary for 2x bonus.

  • win a battle with <3k damage will count as a one completion to the secondary
  • lose a battle with >3k damage will count as one completion to the primary
  • win a battle with >3k damage will count as 1x completion to the secondary and 2x completion to the primary.
  •  if you switch mission before completion of the primary, any progress on primary and secondary objectives is lost
  • once you complete the primary 5x but not 5x the secondary, you have completed the mission without honors.
    •  if you move on to the next mission, only progress on the secondaries gets deleted
    •  coming back to the a mission later, it is sufficient to win 5x for the "honors"

Only the honors part.
You will have to start the honor part from scratch, since any uncompleted progress towards the goal (honors or primary, depending which one you are doing) gets reset as soon as you switch to different mission.
