I want to start playing light tanks, but I am not sure which lines I should go for. Any advice? Maybe something a little forgiving or fun to play.

Light Tank and Forgiving can't really stand in the same sentence. :D

US LTs are usually considered fun, with the derp T49 being the pinnacle of the line.

Some of my friends likes French LTs due to the autoloader and stealthyness.

Chinese and Soviet LTs are more close to med than the others so if you're good with med, you may find them funny to play.

Most are fun to play, some are good though.

59-16, WZ-131 and WZ-132 from the Chinese line.

13 75, BC 12t and 13 90 from the french line.

Chaffee, T37, T71 DA and the T49 with the 90mm from the american line.

MT-25, LTTB, T54 ltwt and the T100 from the soviet line.

Not a single one. You got no armor, you have the lowest HP on tier.

I would recommend rather french if you want autoloaders or chinese if you want to have a decent regular cannon. With chinese you don't go above tier 8, because top tiers are crap, with french you can go as high as you want though.

Also you'll need at least a commander with Sixth sense already working to not suck, even at the lowest tier.

There is no best line.

Best is in the eye of the observer.

US LT line are nice all rounders. Leave the Sheridan and use regular gun on T49

FR and CN  LT line are most consistant in terms of gameplay

Or another decent choice to learn scout play would be to play Chaffee and just stick with it. It's something in between of lights and meds, with a good gun handling and scout camo.

Thank you guys! I just wanted to say that I won't be playing lights above Tier 8. I am a F2P player so grinding Tier 7 and above is an absolute pain. Now that I show this, do you still recommend Chinese or French? I have the Chafee unlocked, I might play with it for a while so I get used to lights.

I pretty much only play LT's lately.  I enjoy the French ones the most,  they can spot, they can do damage, and they can be late game assassins with the  clips.

I also think this is the only LT line, that all tanks are solid and fun to play from tier 5-10.

From the Americans you can go up to tier 7, T 71 DA is the mvp of the line. Some people like the t 49 with derp,  never played it so i don't know.

Grinding the Chinese for marks atm, loved the 59-16, and i am really enjoying the wz-131.

German line is crap, don't bother with it, Luchs and Leo can be fun with the auto cannon.

Rusky line has some stinkers in there, but the tier 9 and 10 are solid tanks.

If you plan on going for tier 7,  i would get both the  T 71 DA, and the AMX 13-75 both are  exceptionally good, i would even say they are pretty OP in the hands of an experienced LT driver with good crews.

Cool, i'm f2p myself, and in my personal, subjective opinion, best low tier lights would be Chaffee and AMX 12t. For their guns. I'm currently playing Chaffee with unskilled crew and i must say it's enjoyable.

If you still have unrecruited crew members from Campaign missions you should use them as commanders for your lights. For equipment and skills i recommend my setups:

shot_050.jpg shot_051.jpg

If you want to use your Chaffee as a dedicated scout rather than semi-med then switch Vert stab or Gun rammer for Binoculars. I also used Binoculars instead of Ventilation system on Amx12t to get the most out of view range.

Always try to get as high camo rating as possible.

If you are gonna stay at maximum tier 8, I would advice you to go either american or chinese.

If you would go full to tier 10, soviets or french are best imo.

Successful LTing requires some crew skills. Camo and Sixth Sense 1st, then anything that helps you move and view better. (BR33K1_PAWAH crew setup is rather sub optimal. I know you use what you have got.)

M24 Chaffee is cool, and versatile. It was (4+MM) and still is (2+MM) a fun vehicle for more than 5.2k matches now.

Take your time do not rush grind.

Damn, are you in a clan? The Caernarvorn Action X is a good tank and I am wondering how you got it as a F2P player. Also, I am not really planning on spending 500,000 credits of equipment on Tier 5 or Tier 6 tanks. I don't think it's that worth it. Then again, maybe it is, I'll see. Also, thank you for the info! I'll make sure to implement your suggestions as much as possible!

Overall the French lights are the best I've played. Fast, agile auto-loaders with good view range and high levels of camo... that's just SUCH a fun combination and they can carry... if you don't run out of ammo that is.

Yes, i am a member of a clan, but AX i got from the marathon event WG did this fall.

And considering equipment investment i can say that in my personal experience it's 100% worth it. Especially on light tanks. You see, on many maps you and the scouts from enemy team will go the same routs, both trying to spot enemy team tanks while staying invisible. And the ones that have better view range and camo will stay further unspotted which will give enemies less time to notice and take aim, while others will get spotted early and focused fired by enemies. So on scouts view range and camo equals survival. And fun. There's not much fun in being constantly outspotted by enemy scout.

IMO if you want a fun gameplay experience with lights you have to invest in it.

True. Also, Tier 5 and 6 scouts can make a good amount of credits, so they could pay off the equipment. Idk about T7, but I've heard that T5 and T6 scouts do make a lot of credits

Yes they can. The trick is perform good enough so you can spot some dmg and deal a decent amount of damage yourself. That's why i suggest Chaffee and 12t. Most scouts have underpowered guns, but not this two.

Ofc on completely open maps - Malinovka and Prokhorovka you will focus on scouting rather than on dealing damage. At least in the early part of battle.

I can recommend t71 DA aswell, one of my favorites, if not my favorite tank in the game. Just the confidence with which you can attack same tier tanks and even higher, is something else.

If you play t49 with the derp, instead of 90mm, you must really like pain. 90mm>derp any day.

Amx 13 90 is probably my new favorite tank, its a really great tank, and with the t9 mm being what it is these days, this thing is just a gem.

Leopard at t5 is surprisingly fun. and the chinese stuart aswell, with the 57mm.

The light tree that is consistently goood, i would say is the USA one. The m7 is alright, the t21 is pretty good, both t71s are good, DA being slightly better, the bulldog is on the meh side and so is the t69, t49 is great with the 90mm, and you shouldnt bother with t10 lights at all.

Sadly, alot of good light are premiums. m41 90 at t8 is busted with the HESH, lt-432 is a great machine. The type 64 is just amazing.

If you want to play LT's trust me, you need the equipments. Also it is the most crew depending class, starting with a fresh crew, even in low tiers will be harsh.

Bc12t also is a really nice, underrated tank. No tech tree t6 lt is worth it anymore, unfortunately.
