Hiya tankers!

Unlocked the T-44 during Holiday Ops. Havent bought it yet (waiting for discounts), but I have been training up a crew for it. Currently they just reached 100% 2nd skill and I am wondering what skill / perk to go with next. Hope you guys can help me out:

Commander: BiA, Sixth Sense, ???

Gunner: BiA, Snap Shot, ???

Driver: BiA, Smooth ride, ???

Loader: BiA, Safe Stowage, ???

Do I go with all camo or repairs next? Or, since in the current setup (without food) my VR will only be 427m, do I go with VR on commander & Loader and either camo or repair (which?) for the gunner and loader? Planning to run Vstab, GR and Optics as equipment.

And it is safe to assume to go with the 100mm LB-1 gun?

Thx for the feedback!

~Dutch

I choose off-road driving instead of smooth ride.

The 122mm gun is more viable nowadays, but might still be better left for the Chinese.

EDIT: I have 170 battles in the tank. Win rate of 57%. There are a lot of better players than me, but in my case camo has seemed like a good option. And the 100mm cannon.

Full camo. They can't shoot you if they can't see you. We smart.

I usually go for repairs on all the crew as 3rd skill but you seem concerned about VR so the best of both worlds is what you suggested. Go for repairs on the gunner and driver and VR skills for the commander and the loader. Some will definitely go for camo as a 3rd skill but that depends on how you're going to play the tank.

Edit: The T44 actually got very good camo when stationary (16%) to put that into perspective that's equal to the WZ-131 a tier 7 light and with full camo crew at 100%:

  • 29% stationary
  • 22% moving
  • 7.26% after firing

but think about this, will you be sitting in a bush like a TD to actually make use of this? The LB-1 is the only viable choice with a good amount of gold.

Yeah. I mostly play light tanks, and my mediums I tend to use to spot a lot. For that reason I prefer camo.

That's one way to use it, an effective way too provided you have enough VR.

View Range > Repairs, imo.

Not played the T-44 for a while, but it used to be my go to tank pre 3/5/7, over 500 games in it.

The way I see it is camo helps you firstly to stay hidden, secondly to win view range fights because of that. View range does win you that specific fight, but it lacks the defensive side of camo. (And I do like situational awareness, but it comes later in the game.)

I would go for repairs and LB-1. View range depends on how you want to play the tank, and I think 430 m is enough for active play. Radio operator skills on the loader is also not the case for TX meds, which forces you to retrain (might not be a problem for you).

Since you are in this for the long game (waiting for discount on tier VIII).

Mentor on the commander, situational awareness on the loader, off road driving on the driver.

Repair isn't as important since we got reusable repair kits.

Does the gunner have another useful skill?  Armourer maybe?  Again though you would just use a repair kit.  If not then go for repair or camo.

Isnt going full view range much better... has the same effect more or less because you spot them 1st, can shot and they struggle to shot back if you maxed out on view range...

Mentor pays for it's self in the long run.

Armourer, like I said, probably not worth it with reusable repair kits.

View range 100% with either cammo or repairs on the rest of crew. Max view range ensures you get a little bit more assistance and experience on average and can also be critical in carry situations

Thanks for the feedback guys! Looks like a somehwat concensus is only for the Loader: S.A., but the rest is still quite even, lol! Since the camo skill also works for the camo on the move %, I am considering camo for both loader and gunner, but still a bit undecided regarding the commander's 3rd skill / perk, but I have some time yet, so keep on voting and commenting your opinions! :great:

I actually dont have this skill on any of my commanders. What tanks benefit most from this skill? Small crew tanks? Large crew tanks? Specific classes (LTs for example)? Autoloaders or regular firing tanks?

This was one of the considerations to use the 3rd skill on VR. Oh, and carry? A Dinger n00b like myself? :D:P

CAMO then View range, then repairs would be my order. repairs has dubious use case since reusable repair kit was implemented. useful on a HT and maybe some TDs, but dubious merits for mediums and useless on lights.

You should 100% drop Smooth ride for any other perk, it's bonus is so small it's unnoticable.

Also, a med without repairs, hmm...

Haha well you win more than you lose so must be doing something right!

As a rule I try to max out viewrange before I work on other crew skills. Depending on your play style and type of tank.

Aggressive play style= repairs

passive = cammo

As someone else also mentioned, crew skills like snap shot and smooth driving actually make very little difference on most tanks so focus on getting repairs or cammo on them first

Recon for commander, SA for loader and camo on the others... in fact I'd reset loader and get SA now.
