Hi all,

I'm not being a sarcy smart-arse here but I was glancing at the return of Frontline announcement just then and there was so many threads about "Bring back Frontline" and "Why remove Frontline" and "When is Frontline coming back" but I never really embraced that game mode. For me, it was a drawn out affair that if anything, heightened some of the more negative aspects of this game and you had the same old annoyances like one sided rofl stomps and clueless bobs ignoring an even bigger minimap while it also featured more artillery like elements(air strikes?) and things that showed once hidden tanks which pretty much made hard ground out crews with camo useless along with camo nets on TDs etc. Toons of OP tier8 premiums were more destructive than ever. Only unlike random battles which are over relatively quickly, even one sided battles dragged on for ages which was just the most annoying frustrating "spawn again die again, yay" experiences I have encountered.

The few positives I took from it was that it was a same tier battle which was a nice break away from bottom tier bs and exploring new and definitely interesting game modes on bigger maps which this game badly needs was 10/10. I clearly must have missed out on something though because you guys seem to really love Frontline and I clearly just didn't get what it was so, can you explain to me what was good and so much fun, so attractive about Frontline?

You could make mistakes and come back and make them again.   But the reality was I got to play T8 again.  In many battles you were with a team long enough to learn its foilibles and strengths.  I found team play better because people partly learned to play as a team.

For me (I have only tried it in CT) it is:

even if balance is completely terrible within tier 8, the balance is still much much better than playing tier 8 vs tier 10.

That alone is for me worth playing, at least until I get fed up with arty I guess. I don't know how terrible arty will be in this mode. If it's anything like GB I probably won't play it too much tho because of arty. Although on CT arty didn't seems to be too much of an issue for some reason.

In short about Frontline: team battle, credits and crew trainer and you play for fun.

It's careless vroom-vroom pew-pew in a different environment which brings monies and rewards. I like.

More dynamic and strategic gameplay. It's different from random gameplay in an interesting way. No getting constantly trashed by TX tanks while grinding new lines. Nice rewards.

with the 3 arty limit across such a big map they had less impact you can still get focused but that leaves a LOT more space available to move.

For me it was to be able to play tier 8 again without feeling like you handicapped yourself with playing tier X in a tier 8.

One of the things I like most about it is the fact that you can adapt to the battle situation. If you find that you're driving a tank that's not suitable for the fight that you find yourself in, you simply pick something more suitable. I choose different tanks depending on whether I'm attacking or defending, which part of the map the battle is on, and what tactics and tanks the enemy are using.

Grinding bad and badly power-crept tier 8 tanks - so I did last time with the (stock) Pershing. Also trained a second german TD crew on SkorpiG and an Italian crew on Progetto. Other aspects (like credits etc) have already been mentioned.

I missed FL last time round and like GPalsson i have only played it on the CT, and i absolutely loved it.

I played every class except arty, all tanks have a purpose and your tank choice after dieing can be very tactical. With no higher tiers to ruin your day and the maps being more open the tanks that are OP and likely to ruin your day in a corridor map dont have the same impact, as flanking is actually possible.

I did best in light tanks, especially the WZ for some reason. May have just been the CT but arty were almost a non-issue, because the gameplay is more fluid they cant sit in the same bush for 15 minutes fapping. Cant wait for it to hit live.

Except every tank can have those arty-like consumables, making indirect fire far more constant compared to randoms. The number 1 reason why I didn't play the mode.

You could grind tier 8 stock tanks. But in all honesty, while i enjoyed it for a bit, the mode became incredibly repetitive after a while, and always on the same map.

If FL would have 2-3 maps and remain in the same format, might be more enjoyable for me.

Also you could farm plenty of credits , there was almost no need of premium ammo , map is big, you can flank around etc.

Never seeing T9 and 10 tanks is a great reason to play FL. Credits and XP are awesome. Teamwork is much better. The only things I a hated was all the bonuses arty players had and very bad optimization. My FPS would drop to below 30 which made it impossible to enjoy. So I never really spent much time playing it. I hope it has gotten better.

It's a lot different than Random Battles. Has a huge map, respawn but with any tank, how is that not fun?

Best platoon experience in game IMO. When you make a mistake you just jump to another vehicle. No need to wait for your buddy to get wasted, so that you can play together again.

For me its mostly because its within my own tier, making it much more relaxing and fun to play than the bottom tier bollocks that we currently have in randoms.

Large map making mobility, spotting and even firing range important and reducing the corridor effect.

Respawning allowing you to adapt strategy, flank and tank, allowing you to keep fighting to overcome different situations.

In-battle repairs and resupply which cost you credits rather than taking you out of the game.

Equal tier only.

Good rewards if you play well (perhaps a bit too good), but not such harsh punishment in terms of credit loss or zero progress if you didn't do so well.

Larger teams reduce skill imbalance (even though it obviously still occurred).

And of course the "it's just something different" effect, including a different method of progression and attaining rewards.

FL had several point I liked:

-The huge map allowing to manouver but forcing people to chose whisely where to spawn due to the high time required to move from sector to sector.

-Recon plane that showed the bushwankers were athe huge pro. Would really like to see them on regular LTs in random too.

-New and refreshing objectives.

-Single tier battle

-Almost no stinker due to map design.

-much more...
