Hello everyone. I've asked around about an issue i have been having and i finally decided to ask here also. I run an i5 4600 at 3.2 ghz, a Asus GTX 960 OC 2Gb Strix, 8 Gb RAM HyperX Savage, a 240 Gb Samsung SSD for Windows and a 1Tb WD Red Edition as my game/file storage. I don't play many games on it such s Flavor of the month/year super hd games. I usually play MMO's like WoW and WoT. Until yesterday my games ran perfectly. Yesterday evening when i fired up WoT to throw a few games, i noticed it was running at 20-35 fps and even below sometimes. I stated with 300+ping though as soon as the pre-match counter ended my ping went back to normal 50-60. I have no idea what could be the issue. I cleaned out every last spec of dust from my fans and proc radiator. I replaced the thermal paste on both my proc and my video card and it runs the same. Performance tests from Task Manager show that when idling in the garage my usage is at 75% and it runs at 60+ fps. The second i get into a match my usage drops to ~54% and my proc goes to about 80%.
I updated the nvidia driver last night but solved nothing. A friend of mine suggested i should either reinstall Windows (i use 10) or change the display cable. PS i use a vga cable with a DVI-d adaptor since i couldn't find any DVI-d cables. Any opinions? Also i use no mods just vanilla game.

I know you have done all the heat related stuff but you don't mention what your temps were before / after.

Kinda the same. Around 60-70 for my CPU and 60 for my GPU. So it's not a heat issue.

I have had similar problems with reduced fps when running new updates before and it drove me crackers trying to solve the issue. I was running XVM so I uninstalled that and bingo it worked fine. Then I reinstalled stats and plop back down again. So I reinstalled XMS and went into graphics settings and it recommended  minimum and I was running AMD 8350 with HD7870 32Gb SSD and usually get 120 plus fps NOT 20 as I was getting. I knew the PC was fine it was the game and XVM

So I uninstalled the graphics card and opted to ALSO UNINSTALL the software in Device Manager and reinstalled the latest drivers. Bingo it worked fine

as for the ping when waiting for the game to start it will hang at any ping it chooses until the game starts then it should be fine
