I just checked out the lunar new year bundle in the premium shop and saw this in the description(see screenshot)

i was considering buying this bundle untill i saw this, becuse i already own the wz. What do you guys think about this new ‘feature’ of the premium shop?

I think its outrageous, imagine if you dont see this when you have the wz, you expect to get some 10000 gold with your tank but nothing...

and if you really want the type youll have to pay €80 for the type and the year of premium, this is a pure scam, especially because the wz is also premium of the week

maybe try and get the attention of community contributors?

It's not a new feature, they already did this in the past with T2+3 tanks that were added to premium time or gold purchases. On the first try they forgot to state it in the shop which caused quite a shitstorm (rightly so).

WG has created itself a massive problem with the gold compensation in the past, it's just logical that they're trying to fix that hole. But typically for WG they don't fix it in a proper way.

The only thing one might call a scam is that they're trying to label this as a discounted offer to everybody, while it only applies to those not having the tanks yet.

Yeh its bad, they are only really harming themselves doing this IMO because a lot of players might have bought that as its a good deal if there is a gold compensation, but won't as its a bad deal without it, so they just lose potential buyers.

So if you have one or both tanks, why not just sell them and then buy the package?

Thank you for making a thread that just repeats what the offer says. It's most helpful.

TBH if anybody buys it without reading they deserve to be out of pocket :child:

I thought about buying this package as at some point I will bite the bullet and buy another year of premium. I quite fancied the CN TD, but I already own the Type 62 light, and so only getting silver compensation and not gold, put me off the offer. I guess I will just wait until the summer when 360 days of premium will be at 15% discount and buy that.

Although 360 days premium is usually £86? Less 15% (£12.90) = £73.10

Package = 360 + CN TD (£27.22 bundled with some missions) + some silver instead of Type 62(*)1,017,160 = £68.78

(*3mill silver bought with 7,500 gold is worth £19.28, so 1 silver is worth 0.00000643 and the Type 62 is worth = £6.54 for the silver)

So I sort of guess the 360 days premium costs £68.78 less £27.22 (ignores missions) and £6.54 = £35.02 making it better value than the normal 360 with 15% off. hmmm .....

Trouble is the wording, it doesn't say buy the premium time and get the tanks free, it actually says celebrate the lunar new year with this awesome  package featuring a years premium and two great Chinese tanks, (in the screenshot at least, i haven't read the page), so what are you actually paying for

Edit: i underlined the contentious part

Well...

Wargaming.net

The page say exactly what the screenshot show.

You get 360 days pf premium, 2 garage slots, 2 tanks and 2x 100 trained crews.

The game portal does state that the 2 tanks are a bonus on top of the premium time offer.

The issue seems to be that whereas before players could buy a package with a tank they already owned and receive gold as compensation, WG have stated that gold will not be given. Presumably there will be compensation in the form of silver. and that therein lies the problem. Many people have seen this as a cheap way to get gold as well as premium time and WG have decided to put a stop to it.

They put two times the word 'IMPORTANT' in the description of the offer.

What do you expect: them detecting you already have the two tanks and sending a 220V dicharge trough your keyboard ?

Just try and read the terms of sale before purchasing. It will save you trouble and us the trouble of having to read this load of horse manure.

Edit: Sorry if this seems harsh, but I work in a customers servivce myself and I am getting sick an tired of people whining about things they bring on themselves.

It's only a scam if they don't tell you about it. The advert clearly states what the offer conditions are so it's down to the buyer to decide if it's worth it.

It's not a scam but it is penalising me for being a reular customer. For this reason I will not buy it. Even if it is (as pointed out by Wellington) still a good deal.

The tanks are FREE you are only paying for the premium time!

I dunno how can you get compo for something that's free?

Because nothing is actually free and a part of us always knows this. This is especially true for digital goods, which have no tangible value and consist entirely of the representative value of the currency and the representative value of their utility. If I buy a real life object, its value is partly based on its materials and the cost of producing it. With digital goods, this relationship is far less clear, sure somebody had to design the thing at some point but the production cost after that is 0.

So the price of such a digital product like a tank can only be expressed in what people deem it to be worth and results in an acceptable selling price. We also know in case of nearly every premium tank where this price typically lies as they've been sold before, so that's our reference point for what the value of a tank is. It isn't free, because under no other circumstance could you get it for free.

So what we have here is a sale of a certain value of a certain item (in this case premium time). To this value are added supposedly "free" items but we know that these items have a value that isn't zero (based on earlier sales values, and our own ideas on what the value and utility of these items are). So if we get premium time for X euros normally, and now we get equal premium time for X euros plus items that have a value of non-zero, then apparently that premium time is not worth as much as it normally is this time. However, we are paying as much for it, so adding free items created a difference between what we believe the premium time is worth and how much we are actually paying. That difference is the value of the "free" items.

So if you don't get the free items, you're paying more for your premium time than you feel it's worth because Wargaming reduced its value by bundling it. The premium time price isn't adjusted so logically the free items need to be compensated for according to their nonzero value. Under other circumstances, this is their gold value, so this is the reference point people use.

It may not be reasonable, but it is really predictable and economically understandable.

I have a slight issue with the way it is advertised as both a free tanks and a discount, it can't be both, but it is made quite clear before you buy that there will be no gold compensation.
