I just come out of a battle where top tier platoons of both sides didn't shoot each other.

They were all members of the same clan.

I accompanied our top tiers (tier 10) in my tier 8 and the enemy instantly started to shoot me, our team's top tiers standing there and doing nothing !!

are they breaking the rules?

should I report them?

I would say they are breaking the rules (the objective is to win) and should therefore get banned.

Though it would surprise me if WG did take action against these kind of behaviours.

Could be also the case, if they were doing a mission or something like that.

then it's mission rigging

Yes it's and you could send a ticket to support about it if you want them punished or banned!

Well,

When BULL get fed up of losing in advances, we sometimes do counts were there is a gold bounty put on certain players, and its good fun and its a hell of a laugh.... in our case its purely just that. no rigging, no missions. just fun. and with 130k people on, the chances should be slim to meet 1-2 other people on the other team, sometimes we have all 6 or so in one team, and in that case we become a co-ordinated bunch of bobs.

If it looks like they are rigging, report them... if not why are you bothered ?

because they didn't try to win.

also they caused me to have a bad battle because they did nothing against the enemy who shot me.

I followed my team's heavies to help them beat the enemy, instead they let them kill me ??

betrayal.

There's nothing in the rules about that. The rules require them to take legitimate gameplay actions. They shot OP, that's entirely legitimate.

One of the sides also achieved victory so even if it were a rule, it wasn't broken.

Not long ago i saw 8 guys from the same clan on a game spread out in both teams, none of them were platooning, so it was obvious they were coordinating the press battle button to get into the same battle, because they were also playing the same tier in all their tanks, and among them one was playing arty.

i saved the replay but i cannot post it, since it would violate the forum rules about naming and shamming.

In my opinion this sort of thing should be punished, because if you have people who are keen to give away enemy positions to another clan member, either to accomplish  campaign missions or help with gun marks etc etc, it can easily be considered violation of the game rules, specially because it messes up with all the other players.

It doesnt matter if they cooperate only to survive longer, or to not kill each other, or even give away their own tank as free damage so the arty have a certain mission, all this sort of things distort battles, and when you see stuff likee this happening, should be immediately reported to WG (like i did).

Weird because what ever clan I have been in when we have counted in and you get one of your clan platoons on the enemy team, you do your absolute maximum to kill your own clanmates, it's a point of honour.

True, I will relocate all the way to the other side of the map for a chance to take down a clanmate and brag about it in in-clan chat afterwards. :B

As others have said, whatever clans I've been in there are the bragging rights for killing a clan mate and therefore we activity hunt them rather than avoid. However I have seen some clans trying to rig late at night (it's pretty obvious to see on blocking etc) and then I actively try and ruin their game

there is 2 things going on.

A: they try to do honor rules and not shoot each other until the end of the game. to make some silly ending, I've done it once and it was nothing but shits and giggles

B: they shoot the hell out of each other because killing your clan mates in randoms is the way to go! it's nothing but fun and bragging rights is endless. there is even special tags on people's discord and TS for killing certain members. it's a good bit of friendly competition!

I've done countdowns and just in general accidentally meet people i know on the other team. and I've rarely not gotten red mist just to kill the person I know because then I can go rub it in!

Not shooting enemy tanks is against normal etiquette, it is bad sportsmanship and despicable.

Absence of action is punishable by WG (see afk/excessive camping).

When you push the battle buttom, you are agreeing on trying to do your best to win that battle to the best of your ability.

I'd say send the replay to support, likely some sort of rigging or attempt at rigging going on. They probably shot and killed you to basically get you out of the way.

Often these riggers try to meet at a spot and do blocking missions and don't want anyone else there to interfere.

As others have said, in legit clans if members meet each other in game, they'll go out of their way to make sure they kill their clan members

There’s certainly no explicit rule but WG do have that rather catch all phrase of “intentionally going against or abusing the game design”. Would WG put not shooting enemy tanks because they are in your clan under that, possibly. What I certainly don’t think it covers is playing your best to win.

This reminded me of a battle I had long long time ago which was also featured by Jingles on Youtube

The specific battle starts around the 11.37 minute mark.

It starts out normal but right after the beginning you start to wonder what is wrong and yes this is a classic example of 2 players from the same clan rigging a match to fulfill a mission. The good news is that after this was featured on Youtube both players got a 1 month ban and if i am not mistaken the awarded tank was withdrawn.

So, yes if you have a replay like this sent it to support..
