Has anyone picked one up? I'm tempted with frontlines coming up as this looks a decent all rounder light, somewhere between an the M41GF and the regular M41.

Has good pen for a light, APCR standard ammo, good gun handling, decent view range, high DPM, gun depression, good accuracy and is decently mobile. Looks very comfy all round, without being exceptional.

I have been running a Chinese LT crew since the Type 62 was released and they're near the top of their fourth skill.  Running vents, vert stab and optics with sweet and sour dumplings I'm getting a 4 second reload and a view range just shy of 500m.  Seems slower than the German version though.  In neither game I played did I make much of an impression.

Top speed is slower *BUT* it has 10 more HP/t on the same ground resistance values so acceleration is much better.

It looks like a very nice light, in fact a better tank then the regular Bulldog in all departments where it matters (DPM, penetration and gun).

Looks rubbish, would rather use Blackdog

Already have Type 62 & 64 chinese lights anyway. If I didn't have them I would probably be tempted

Sweet & Sour Dog vs Blackdog

M41D vs M41 90 GF

CN higher dpm, faster rate of fire, higher penetration BUT lower alpha damage. Much better shell velocity on the CN one.

CN better aim time, better dispersion, and better depression (9 not 8 degrees)

CN slower forward and reverse speed, they have exactly the same terrain resistances, but the CN has better power to weight ratio. So although the CN goes slower, it will accelerate to maximum speed faster.

Armour and health the same.

Base view range Blackdog 400, CN takeaway 390.

Just activated the rental code off one of the clan members, will try it tonight but was thinking the same as was going to use the 132 for FLs

Was interested about that as the T92 light has virtually no pen drop off at range and has the same combo of velocity, gun handling, depression which made it useful for the long range engagements in Frontlines.

How had does it drop off?

One of the things I like the least about the GF is the shell velocity.

With the Type 62 and the Blackdog in my garage I just don't think I'd play it.

The Type is closer to the playstyle of the higher Chinese light tanks, and the Blackdog has that HEAT round which is very useful.

Just not got the gap in my garage for another Chinese light tank, and not different enough in playstyle to break out the wallet.

..., but it is collectors item ...

I had to get it.

:)

At current my CN LT crew has 9.8+ matches.

The role setup fits perfectly.

BTW, the rental code is valid, until Feb 17th or 5 matches.

Spoiler

Well if anyone has a spare rental code it would be appreciated so I can test it, gone are the days of me just blindly buying stuff from WG

These two tanks share something I really dislike on tanks, slow shell velocity, which is why I don't often play either.

Which is why I prefer the T92 over the Blackdog and why I preferred it in Frontlines, because of those long range shots it could do and it's what appeals about this thing, decent base pen, good accuracy, fast shell velocity and good gun handling on a mobile tank.

Ceeb very kindly has given me a rental code so I get to give it a go.

EDIT: For some reason I called tanks 'things'

Slow shell velocity is what kills the blackdog for me, I can't enjoy that tank at all. Please post your opinion after you've tested it.

I agree, but for some odd reason I like playing them and can make them work. I think it's getting them into that "support medium" kind of position in games. Slightly ahead but not too exposed, and not playing like an Even 90 or T92 type of light tank.

As much as I like the model and enjoy playing Chinese lights, I can't see a reason to get this. The gun handling looks good and it's quicker off the mark than the Blackdog but I don't see any compelling reason to play this instead of the LT-432; less penetration but better at firing on the move, 2º less depression but proper armour and the Russian is smaller, therefore harder to hit at range.

Again... a premium tier 8 Bulldog light, that seems better than the normal US Bulldog. More DPM, more pen, better dispersion and aim time and more hit points.  I doubt the 3 less top speed and 2 less traverse and the 3 less power to weight will make a massive difference to counter for those gun stats vs it. So basically, another tier 8 for my US Bulldog to not go in a 1 on 1 with unless he has more HP. So I would say it's worth it if you like the Bulldog atm.

But then again it could be... Or rather I hope it will be a sign of things to come. As in that, the US Bulldog gets the same gun buffs etc later.
