Maybe a dumb question but I can't figure it out. Do I get 1 point for every time I reach Tier 30?

Updated:

You can get up to 27 prestige points (PP) total. You can get to tier30 10x total but not every time you get to tier 30 do you get 1PP.

PP awards for each time you reach tier 30: 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 6 (=27PP max obtainable for 2019)

XP Chart 2018 & 2019: http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/700024-front-line-grind-chart-2018-vs-2019/

The average FL match takes about 21 minutes for me but can end up being ~29 minutes (incl. overtime).

How long it will take to unlock the tier 9 in hours (excl. load times and etc):

Sergeant: 712

Lieutenant: 305

Captain: 178

Major: 119

General: 89

It runs for a total of 12 weeks, so assuming you play 4 hours each day it runs: 12x7x4=336 hours total that you can play so for most casuals they have to play close to 4 hours for the entire year for EACH day it runs and yes I assume that casuals mostly end up at lieutenant rank while good players will average Captain+.

To calculate it for yourself: hours required to unlock T9 = ((30500 / (avg rank xp / avg minutes per match)) / 60) x 10. Note that the actual grind is longer because you also have load times, end-screen and when you reach Tier 30 you likely waste a lot of rank XP. I was for example at 30450 rank xp so I had to play 1 extra game just for 50 rank xp... The rest is wasted.

Basically for most players it will take about 300ish hours and for comparison this is a bit more than reaching level 100 untwinked&unboosted in Path of Exile. Leveling 1-->60 in Vanilla World of Warcraft also took less time compared to this grind.

Conclusion: You really need to average Captain rank, really love this gamemode or no-life it. But if you don't enjoy this mode after seeing these hours I recommended not to grind it.

Holy crap I was afraid this would be the case...

So say you average Lieutenant/captain rank and a match will take 20 minutes on average and using this chart http://forum.worldof...t-2018-vs-2019/ then it will take roughly (70x20x15)/60=42.000 minutes or 700 hours to get the T9 tank.. That's insane...

I was hoping that we would get a point every few tiers :(

:teethhappy:

Played frontline a bit last year, didn't really like it.

Attempted one game today, quit within 10 minutes... this mode is definitely not for me.

Good luck grinding guys. And don't forget to enjoy your rewards

That was what I was thinking as well. A somewhat decent western 700 hours job will net you well over 20.000 euro. That T9 tank is literally as valuable as a real life car. Or is my math wrong? Because this is just wow. That's why I was so unsure that prestige points would be accumulated this way because this is beyond insane.

You get more than 1 point for each prestige. You get progressively more.

For example for the last 10th prestige, you get 6 points.

It's not 700 hours. Its still a lot, but if you get a modest 600 points per game on average you need 50 games to get to tier 30. 50 games * 20 minutes = ~17 hours.

10 prestige = 17*10 = 170 hours.

So still many hours, but much less than 700.

still its a Tad over the top. Im nearly rank 30, and feels nearly burned out. Just by thinking i gotta get to 30 atleast 4 or 5 times more. And thats even with me regularly reaching general or major every game..

I do Hope WG tweak the numbers a pinch.

Ofcourse people playing alot and putting in the effort, should get rewarded more. But currently id say if WG keeps the mode, the way it is, we'll only see a handful of people ending Up with the tier 9 tank.

Since mostly people will tire/burn out as the weeks come and go.

I could be wrong though. Time wil tell:girl:

eeeeh? well yeas but grind for tier IX is still the same....  for 30 tiers you grind you get only 1 level of prestige, yes you get progressively more prestige point but the grind is still the same.... the thing is its literally not worth it... for STA-2 you need level 4; so with average of 17-19 hours to reach level 30 you get your tank after  70-80 hours over course of few months.... i know its not that bad if you spread it in a year but its hell of a grind for something that costs few bucks...... i can do few hours of overtime in my job and buy that tank in a day...

i though it would be fun playing for fun and getting something for it.... this is work, nobody needs another work

do the math... even credits are not worth it for average player.... im 53%-er and im getting only 180k for Captain and 20 minutes of game.... you get that from 3 games in regular mode average of 6 minutes

Yeah but the mode isn't utter cancerfest of constant tier 10 games. So, it's pretty good mode for credits.

You can think what you want, but the entire premise that it's a 700 hour grind is simply wrong. It may still be too much for you, but I'm sure some will do it.

For me, Ill do it until I don't think it is fun any more. I suggest you do the same.

do you mean for tier 8?.... you only get 3 tier Xs against your tier 8 premium... thats not bad, anybody can shoot 2k dmg per game and get more credits in much shorter time than in Frontlines

If you can get 2k damage in tier 10 game in random, you should earn a lot more in FL mode.

If you get progressively more points each time you reach Tier 30, is there a chart about how many points we gain each time we reach it so I can calculate how much time I'd need to spend?

Also reaching Captain every game is well above average. I noticed that about 1/3 of players in a battle get a rank of captain+. Meaning that a bit less than 2/3rd of players get only a maximum of 350 points / battle. I personally am somewhere between lieutenant and captain and I'm still figuring out how stuff works. I estimate that I personally get on average 450 points / battle. And it seems that being lieutenant and 99% towards captain still counts as lieutenant for rank points...

The average player would still have to invest 300 hours of NON-STOP FL assuming you have to reach Tier 30 about 10x. at 12 hours/day that would come down to 25 days of non-stop FL-ing.

And the 20 minutes per match is a low estimate I think, does anyone know the real time per match? Most of the time the attackers capture 5-6 points adding more time... I think we are better off if we would never cap any points so that matches are faster.

I'm at tier 16 and already getting tired of it... I'll never do the T9 I think. I also miss out on a few really good premiums that are currently not for sale that are just really strong in FL and I don't understand why some tanks are 'limited'. Gives a really unfair feeling. And being 1 or 2 shots away from Captain when the game ends also gives me a %$#%#$ feeling especially when it is because we win. Sometimes winning just sucks.

It is really crazy that you need to reach Tier 30, 27 times to get  27 prestige points. I just reached tier 30 and found out. It took me 2 good days to do so and it is probably impossible for 99% of the player base to do this 27 times. I just hope that T9 tank is worth it because it will be a real bummer to work your [edited]off and finally get a meh tank. I probably won't do it because this is obviously a desperate cry from WG to increase their player count. You need to be glued to your chair for 1 week each month to do this 27 times.

And knowing WG tier 9 will probably be a useless tank that very few people will have and will never play it either. Just a unique but useless tank like that T8 reward tank for inviting players.

A bit of advice, stop indulging WG in their crap!

Play the mode as an alternative to randoms with better MM. Enjoy the credits, the better map and use it to do your stock grinds or play your favorite tier 8 tanks.

Typical WG technique...create a new mode and put some rewards so people are stuck in front of their PCs for the next 10 months. That's just pathetic, it's a game not a [edited]chore. The value of the rewards is nowhere near the effort and time required to get them!

You are really fast then. I'm not even close to that after 1.5 day. I'm getting more Captains today compared to yesterday so I'm improving but seriously we should all just refuse to cap points and just fast clash into each other non-stop so everybody can farm mad ranks fast.

EDIT: A match does seem to be around 21-22 minutes for me excl. loading times and such so the 20 minute estimate was pretty spot on. So that's about 17 hours Tier 1-->Tier 30 or in my case, about 4 days of grinding.
