I saw this earlier. Seen slow mo of bullets from guns etc. But never from a tank or field gun etc at that speed. It was kind cool seeing the shell traveling not so straight for so long before it found balance. If anything it goes to show why shells don't have zero RNG in real life. Like most want to have in this game. As if he does the yaw spin when he hits sloped armor. He might low roll on pen and bounce off.

Also he missed with a 152mm at point blank range. This is related to gameplay if anything. As it shows how RNG is in real life.

I vote next special event involving watermelons and shell deflection. That was epic.

Slow your horses. These guns are not calibrated and not maintained well, they wont shoot well. I saw restored pak 43 shoot a shell and it went into the target sideways. Dealing with 80 years old cannons isnt an easy task.

I would like to watch it but my attention span is about 30 seconds. Watching things happen more than once and in slow motion is HELL for me.

so tragic.

Could it be that the wobbly shell thing is also partly due to the barrel simply being worn out? I remember when reading about big arty guns that after a certain amount of shots fired their barrels had to be replaced because every shell hurtling through removed a small amount of the inner side of the barrel... [1]

Plus, with the watermelon deflection: is the shell being deflected by hitting a melon, or by the pressure wave of the evaporating melon? [2]

[2] not sure if the melon evaporates because of the pressure wave generated by the moving shell, the pressure wave from the propellant (though I would not think that outruns the actual shell) or by heat.

Barrel wears in tanks too. Most modern tanks support barrel change without taking out whole gun assembly. Guns have EFC index (Effective full charge). For current tank guns it's around 1000. That doesn't mean 1000 shots because some shells have wear index greater than 1. So if you fire aggressive to the barrel shells with index of 2 with gun that have EFC 1000 that means that after 500 shells the barrel is for a change. Fire control systems take into account the current wear level of the barrel when calculate the shots. The effect of barrel wear is reduced pressure.

Now imagine how that would look with WoT RNG: The shell would sptin and wobble like a rock lobbed by a trebuchet.

And what did we learn? Staluminium is out. Melonskin is the new troll armor material!

Really big guns wear out drastically after every shot and shells get wider and are numbered by their size.
