Seeing wargaming selling the HWK30 from now, I was wondering how effective this tank would be. Is there any reason to buy the HWK30 over the LT-432? Because to me, it seems the LT is simply much better...

  • LT has ±100 extra dpm
  • LT has very strong armour
  • LT is theoretically slightly faster
  • HWK has 30m view range
  • HWK has 3 degrees more fun depression

So, besides crew training/tank collecting, what would be a reason to buy the HWK 30?

so T8 MM had 7 lights per side rather than the current 5.

GG WG, lets bring out a new T8 light after you just release the wheeled lights and have a T8 light marathon too, that won't hamper MM at all

Captain obvious to the rescue; It trains a German crew.

If you like the T8 German LT, now you can spend some money and get a superior version of the same tank.

It's difficult to compare the two since they're so different, meaning they'll have a different playstyle as well. Statistically the HWK30 comes very close to the M41 BlackDog, which is deemed to be one of the best tier 8 LT's out there. What you loose in DPM you gain in other statistics such as gun handling, accuracy, gun depression, shell velocity and even view range. With Frontline being a monthly event now, tanks like these are very appealing.

Come to think of it, the HWK30 is VERY similar to the RU251 at tier 9, which is a pretty solid package to get a tier lower.

ELC Even 90

leKpz M41 90 GF

leKpz M41 90

Panhard EBR 75 (FL 10)

M41D

T92

(in game files not yet released = T44 Lightweight, and AufKlarungspanzer V)

so eight premium light tanks created, and one light tank to find them, one light tank to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them.

That one light tank is the LT-432.

All the others are inferior to the RASHA light and are only worth purchasing as crew trainers for their respective nations.

I own ELC Even 90, M41 90GF, and T92 which are all fun and I enjoy playing them. I also own LT-432 and it's just a better all round package than the other three premium tier VIII light tanks that I own.

Im not into light tanks, so I could be wrong, but isnt HWK30 a premium version of the invisible Ru 251?

There is no reason to get the HWK. LT-432 is the best high tier light/medium/TD that also get overshadowed by the new wheeled vehicles. Some will say that you can get it for crew training on german lights, but what is the point in playing tech tree german tanks if they suck ?

The stats on the HWK 30 are quite similar to the Spahpanzer RU 251 at tier IX. The tier IX has more health, better speed (slight) and more HP. But the tier X German light the Rheinmetall Panzerwagen is considered the weakest of all the tier X light tanks, so why purchase a crew trainer for a line of tanks that are the weakest of the bunch?

Why buy a HWK 30 as a general light tank when the LT-432 is better.

But feel free to spend it's your money.

HWK 12 vs HWK 30 is just a disgusting comparison.

With nearly every premium tank coming out, WG is just taking a tech tree tank, making it better and selling it as premium.

Will there be an option to buy this LT with gold or is it going to be a bundle thing as usual ?

Any use for it when I have the 251, 432 and the Blackdog already ?

So.. Compared to the HWK 12, the HWK 30 gets:

-better DPM

-better gun soft stats

-better AP pen

-over DOUBLE the HE pen

-a frontal-mounted turret

-(theoretically) more armor

-450 m/s higher shell velocity

-faster turret traverse

-better gun elevation

-higher engine and track health

-higher overall health

-higher top speed

-higher reverse speed

But hey, the HWK 12 gets 75 credits cheaper ammo and slightly better maneuverability (which is theoretical, as neither of them are sluggish).

The new tank also gets 10º gun depression across the front of the tank, the Ru 251 only gets it over the sides. I'd be tempted if I didn't already have a BlackDog.

DezGamez review shows it taking full pens from arty - 723 damage received from the tier VI French arty, for example. Looks to be a typical unarmoured light, meaning the LT is still the best light for pretending to be a medium.

It's an inferior blackdog - pass.

Also baffling why they give this barebone tank 410 view range while the M41D, which has an entire modern scouting package like infrared and high-contrast optics, only 390. Fantasy stats at it again.

why would you spend any money? that should be the case!

provided that it is just another "scam"(perfectly legal in this case :)) to get your money without actually having altered anything in the current meta/MM/rebalancing etc..

just some nice offering in a nice message in a box..
