So, around 2 years ago, during one of the events, i won myself the Type 62.

I was super hyped but after 200 battles, i realised it was nothing special. It was a stock WZ-131 with a premium status and no preferential match making. It has nothing to set it apart from the other tier VII light tanks. Mobility is alright, god awful armour (to be expected though), and the worst gun that a tier VII light tank can have. Even the HEAT isn't any better as it gets matched up against tier VIII and IX. It feels like its lacking something. Maybe buff its damage, improve its dispersion, or maybe give it more shells aswell? Give it a 90mm or do something to set it apart from the rest. Hell, even if it was given a preferential match making, it still wouldn't be as competitive, and its certainly lacking there. Even with 100% crew, in my opinion, a 4.64s reload is a bit too long for a 85mm, while at the same time, my tier VI T-34-85 with 100% crew has 4.39s reload. I think Wargaming needs to give this tank a bit of love. And for the sake of all the people who bought it for 50€+ with 10,500 gold, who thought it was good, got dissapointed. Maybe Wargaming should stop focusing on re-balancing the German tech tree, and give love to tanks they released way back, 4-5 years ago, and buff them, because at this state, even with the "new MM" its not competitive against other light tanks that it gets matched up against, not to mention against the french wheeled vehicles. So please Wargaming, i beg you, buff the Type 62 and make it stand out, and make it unique from the other ones. And stop focusing on releasing more new premium light tanks like the German HWK 30 or the Russian LT-432.

Hmm, it does stand out though, doesn't it? IIRC it has better firepower than the other tier 7 LTs?

It doesn't need a buff, apart from engine power I guess. The gun's good IMO. I prefer trading pen for more DPM anyway.

I think engine power is its only true weakness. I love mine a lot.

It's a bit of a potato launcher but it's alright.

Have you tried to 3 mark it? I don't know who plays it but I'm at 2 marks with 87% MoE and it already represents playing without mistakes at wn8 3K+. It is a good tank at its tier, only T71DA and 13 57 might be stronger.

It has great DPM, better accuracy and low terrain resistances. I don't think it requires significant buff compared to its peers. Maybe I would consider decreasing aim time a bit. Unsure though.

Bought mine a while ago to train up my future Chinese LT crews, so far it's trained two crews from start to first skill at 100% and this is the result:

Must admit I have fun in it even with a bad crew and it only gets better when you actually have a decent crew in it, I owe Cobra6 a huge thanks for making a youtube video reviewing it since I would most likely skipped it otherwise. Can't say I feel that it require any buffs, well it would be nice to not be set on fire as much but that's a Chinese thing I guess. There are a lot of tank in the game that would benefit from a buff a lot more than the Type 62, be glad you didn't won an AMX CDC instead.

Nothing to set it apart from other tier 7 lights? How about the WZ-131 vs. Type 62...

  • Type 62 has 25% more DPM.
  • Better terrain resistances.
  • Better aim time.
  • Better view range with the same camo.

I think it performs quite similar to WZ-131. It's still not as good as 13 57, but that's probably the best T7 light tank anyways.

It used to be a half upgraded 131.

Then the great light rebalancing hit.

If anything it needs the same mobility as the WZ-131 and the same standard pen of 159 instead of 145, but other then that it's fine.

No 100mm shenanigans etc, just keep the 85mm.

I think its fine, if a bit dull.

Exceptional view range for its tier, with a good crew and good dpm makes a good tank. Downsides are sub-par acceleration and poor gun depression. Gun is fine (same as T-43, KV-13). Any buffs would make it too strong.

OP, don't forget that lights are hard to play.. If you want something easier try a med.
