I know this risks attracting the ire of the moderators, but I'm going to risk it.  Some things are too important to remain quiet on.

At the weekend I saw something I really didn't like.  After the game I went through the replay and took some screen shots and sent them along with the replay to support with the following text :-

Block Quote

Using XVM mod to draw swastikas (twice) and Star of David (once).

I don't like racism or bigotry in any form.  I particularly don't like Antisemitism.

I expect a reply along the lines of "Thanks for telling us, we will handle this but we wont tell you what we're going to do."

I didn't get that at all.  I suspect the reply I got was an automated reply.  It mentioned ...

"sometimes happens that our opponent is cheating" (he wasn't cheating he was drawing swastikas on the mini-map) "our system will detect an improper use of illegal cheat or mod, it will punish instantly" (my issue isn't to do with mods, it's to do with Antisemitism) ... Now comes the fun one ...

"I have also noticed that you have some illegal mods as well, so be aware to remove them in order to avoid uncomfortable situations in future."

WTF - I have Aslain's XVM and Yasen Krasen session stats.

The morale of the story is ... Beware of contacting WG support ... especially if the issue is Antisemitism (after all, mishandling an issue like that can become very serious, very quickly - just look at British politics).

I've replied to them in the hope that their next response isn't automated.

Once I was naive enough to report to Support a Nazi insult aimed at me (with screenshot), and they just brushed it aside saying that unless their automated system does something, nothing will happen to that person. And that is one WG's promise that I 100% believe, sadly.

Unbelievable. Its just like you can combine gasmask and the flag of israel and top it off with 731 as unitmarking. Ofc 666 is a banned number.

Perhaps support thought you were using the "look at minimap" cheat I've heard so much about.

And upset all those chinese people who are Jewish? Getting your regimes mixed up there....

And 666 should be unbanned since it is pretty well known now that someone fecked up the translation.

I got a prompt reply ...

"this is caused by the modpack you are using, as there is not draw on the minimap option by default in our game. Therefore if you do not want to see such drawings, delete your mods, and have fun in the game."

So there you have it.  Although I suspect this a standard reply to people who complain about penises being brawn on the map, I'll leave it there.

Yeah, I'll get right on that.  The problem is, the cheat I'm using is a stealth cheat.  It's so subtle that it not only has no effect on the game play it also hides itself so well that even I don't know what it is.

Perhaps its the Eye of Sauron image I have for 6th sense ?

Yes, clearly a copyright infringement on the LOTR films.

Unless/until WG offers it in Premium Shop for 5.99.

Please explain how that person draw something with XVM in the game? Since XVM is not a server-side plugin? Also while drawing swastika is bad, since when is drawing star of David bad?

This is pretty ridiculous. It may be true that Wargaming isn't directly responsible for what mods are designed to do but they are responsible for the fact that the game is moddable and how it is moddable. They are also responsible for the behaviour that takes place on their servers and upholding the rules for their players. That swastika drawing may not be a default client function but it didn't suddenly cause a client to client connection, it was sent and received by Wargaming servers after which it was sent to receiving clients.

Incidentally I doubt the response is related to the nature of the issue you reported, I'd sooner assign this to sheer incompetence.

I don't know the details of how it's implemented but XVM allows lines to be drawn on the mini map.  This can be very useful in clan strongholds, etc.  Also clicking the map places a pinpoint spot, rather than just flashing a whole square.  It's pretty neat though it does abused by the immature in randoms.

There is nothing wrong with the Star of David, it just shows the specific state of mind of the "artist".  By drawing Swastikas and then the Star it is obvious and blatant antisemitism.

Maybe try a PM to Eek and see if he can do something, even if it is just a warning to the player concerned.

Someone drew a Star of David in a QB stream a couple of days ago.  Difficult to prove intention but I suspect we can all guess.

Then why are you not contacting them about it?  It's their mod which is being used to draw pictures, not the game.

Ah, the Swastica and the Star of David. Two old symbols that got reused and rebranded with a new fresh perception. Good became bad and bad became...jewish. And let's change the definition of "semite" while we're at it.

But hey if it gets xvm banned then I'm all for it. :great:

Looking at XVM web site I do not see any listed stock feature that actually allows drawing on the minimap at all let alone sharing what you draw with other XVM users on the  team.

If there is such a feature, why the assumption that it is considered legit?

I do see this though...

Block Quote

"And finally, you can utilize not only standard macros and text in any minimap text field, but also include images using the <img>tag.

If someone is drawing on the minimap using a macro that is not actually normally provided in the stock (approved) XVM, then the macro could be considered a cheat even if the rest is not. That would also go for any ability to see images others produce via said macro.

I think it's "XMQP (Exchange data with allies)" under settings.  This also lets you see which of your allies have sixth sense & whether they get spotted.
