I am trying to play some mediums since I got kinda bored from Heavy tanks with their inaccurate guns and slow maneuverability.

Can someone explain to me the fine differences between the two major medium lines of USSR.

What are the differences between T54 and Obj.430?

t54 line is easier to play. 430 line is harder to play. t54 is the better line. you can check and compare the tanks from those lines on tanks.gg website. to explain the differences would be to go in depth into the individual tiers... they are all very different.

No experience on either so far but adding the fact that 430 is almost stockgrind free. Can equip everything on stock suspension and has an engineupgrade with 40hp, that's it.

I guess T-54 is more nippy, infamous for it's 330mm pen HEAT shells. It's very responsive and easy to drive medium tank with some turret armor and enough frontal armor to bully low tiers. My first tier9 back in the day and I sucked in it very bad, but I still consider it one of the better tier9 tanks. If you shoot premium, that is.

Obj.430 I don't have, yet, but the way I understood, it's heavier medium with higher alpha and tougher armor, but with a bit less ( a very small bit ) mobility. As stated above, it has pretty much non existent stock grind. Kinda like Borsig.

So, why choose when you can have both? The real gem there is the T-44, that I recently bought back to grind obj 430 and a chance to redeem the horrible tomato stats I have in it having rushed to that tier in my sub 1000 games...

What are the differences between T54 and Obj.430?

T54 leads to 140 and T62a, both good, but the 140 is far better overall (T62A is more of a hulldown sneaky sniper with weaker hull armor but stronger turret ... though not that much stronger).

T54 is a gold shell dependent tank, especially if you use the good gun (the 201mm of pen one).

430 is almost full unlocked stock, has fantastic standard round pen, not so much better gold pen which means it's cheaper to run than the T54, and leads to the best t10 medium for randoms (or at least top 2 with the m48 patton).

PS: 430 is horribly OP at t9, more OP than the T-54.

I remember while ago when there were few more tier 9 mediums to chose form. I remember one had a 1 degree better gun depression, one was the quickest and one had a better cupola armor.

I am more in the market of best gun handling characteristics. You know, like: firing on the move, snapshots, weak-spot aiming. :)

Armor on the tanks in general is pointless given the gold ammo. Id rather rely on a good gun handling.

Obj.140 is probably your go-to tank then.

T-54 then, but keep in mind it's wallet powered.
