With an update to the Matchmaker we would like to refresh the discussion about Matchmaker. Henceforth please use this thread as the main place discuss Matchmaker 

 

Most importantly, remain on-topic and constructive, use this thread and not make additional ones to discuss various matchmaker topics.

wait, will this mean that playing tier 5, you  will be put in more tier 6 matches. 

and when playing tier 7, you wil see more tier 8???

Well I never tested it myself when it was on EU because I was busy with FL. But I think lots of those feedbacks were negative. I do hope that WG doesn't mess this one up. Because if T8s get top tier a lot, that means more T6 and T7s will be bottom tier. It is a really hard job to create a balance between all the tiers. I really hope they have come up with something nice.

Yeah, I just hope that all tiers from 5 to 8 the mm will actually be good now, and not get +2 like 80-90% of the games aswell as really unbalanced games where one team gets paper heavys vs a superheavys. I can only hope

It was rather a big guess if the RU 3rd April release also included the EU...going by your op...which it luckily does as per the article you linked in your reply.

but still, hope this gets good. though I still think instead of keeping messing around with the MM (and make things often worse than better), WG should un-corridorise maps, so speed, view range and accuracy factor more in a tank's fighting chance. more trial and error it is then

I think, so far, longer waiting times have never been a problem, and you shouldn't underestimate how patiently people can wait to get into a fair/fun battle.

These changes sound good, let the matchmaker work more with what's currently available in the queue, even if this causes longer waiting times for certain vehicle (types). More variety in the available templates is a good thing and should make things more divers. Especially same tier battles only quickly become boring, because the snow-ball effect is very dominant.

 

And before people start crying about the matchmaker again, keep in mind, that the meta has changed drastically. There is a huge spike in t8 (premium) and t10 tanks compared to other tiers. Over the last years the grinding time of t7 and t9 vehicles has been reduced massively with all the events, boosters and bonuses. WG encouraging players into the "endgame" with t10 only certainly does not help in this regard as well. And everytime you are top tier, someone else has to be bottom tier. You simply cannot be top tier all the time, especially if the template system is pyramidally formed.

2 years I have been waiting, it took WG way too long to "hopefully" fix MM. It's here now though and I'm keeping fingers crossed it works.

Can now play all those tier 8 tanks I haven't touched in 2 years

You are right, but let's be honest, people didn't asked for top tier games every game, but when you are bottom tier like 80%+ most of the games of course people will complain about mm. And alot of f2p players play stock tanks, with crappy crews and no prem ammo, is it fun to get +2 games every game while you are trying to grind a stock tank (especially a stock tier 8 tank)? Definitely not.

Looking forward to testing this, it'll probably require a couple of weeks of playing to see if there's improvement.

I am most of all interested how the limited MM tanks will fair with this new MM. I have so many I used to enjoy playing, but had to avoid some time after the template system was introduced.
