I find the scenery to be less distracting with it on. However, if you're struggling with FPS, just turn it off.

Competitive settings?

It's not counter strike. I just max mine out then turn off motion blur

There are nice mods that remove some stuff which is generally nice, but once removed make things easier to see in competitive mode (removing decals, shadow scope, red light when hit, fog, etc, etc.). You can find them in Aslain's mod pack.

^ This and keep antializing maxed. It affects the red layout for targeted enemy tanks.

I always wondered why enemy silouette doesnt show up so bright like it does when watching streamers play WoT

That's borderline cheating already.

I remember the good old days when you could sometimes get someone's game to crash if you fired at them with 3 Pz1Cs at the same time.

WG, myself and Aslain would disagree with this assessment. Still, it could always be generally argued that any modification made to a client (visual or otherwise) creates an unfair disadvantage to vanilla playing players. However, as these mods are legit and available to all, I would argue that there is no disadvantage there, but only personal preference.
