Just got one of these from random rewards, which is great value for just playing a battle. My question is, is there any tank where it is actually useful? or just sell it? 99% of the tanks ive seen its not worth dropping any of the standard equipment

I have used a toolbox on a few heavy tanks that I was not willing to spend credits on.

IIRC, I have used it on T-150, KV-4 and IS. Not sure if I had it on the KV-3 as well.

Helped with the lack of Repairs skill.

But other than me being cheap and the situation being.. well.. situational. I'd say that Laatikko is useless.

It is useful on a few TDs such as the T95 or the Tortoise, pretty much any of the slow armored non turreted TDs can get a lot of use out of it. I always use it on my T95 along with 2 repair kits and a full repair crew to avoid getting perma tracked and circled.

I would personally only use it on tanks like the T95 or Tortoise. Definitely can't think of using it really on any Mediums or Heavies at all.

1. On very low tier heavies of a new line when you are only going to play a handful of battles before researching the next tier up.

2. Marginal on some assault TDs. Used to be a thing on the T95, but since that tank got the speed buff I doubt it is longer relevant.

3. Was it ever relevant for the T110E3? Personally I doubt it.

4. Tortoise has the huge cupola weak spot and so cannot be frontline in the way a T95 can be, and so no tool box not useful on that one.

5. I am unable to recommend a tank where the toolbox is better than another piece of equipment, and thus conclude sell it.

heavy TD's and other arty magnets are usually good to equip with toolbox and repair skills as i really do hate waiting for a 10 second repair when the enemy has a gun that shoots every 8 seconds.

Laatikko being FI for box. Nice.

Wheels take a colossal annoyance time to repair and in a WV you can afford divesting an equipment slot.

Its good equipment because it can be transferred between tanks with no fee. I use it when i first buy my tank and if the crew is not skilled to 100% or dont have repair skill. One tank that I keep it on permanently is KV2 since Vents are useless on it. And it saved me a lot of times.
Generally any tank that cannot afford to get/stay tracked too long.

Keep it. And as I said before you can transfer it anytime and its a good free equipment especially on tanks that you dont plan to keep (just rushing thru to get to the next one) and dont want to spend money on equipment.

Generally used to on anything slow and turretless.

Useless 90% of cases. I have one on my Pz.B2,because there's simply exactly nothing else to put in that thing, aside from vents and optics.

The remaining 10% - most use probably goes in tanks that can be permatracked, but you might try to compensate with the suspension-enhancement equipment, so that tracks are actually more resilient to damage.

I do not know otherwise. I got one from merits as well.

I got one of those during or for completing the tutorial. Since then I had it on my M3 Lee for a bit since at that point I had neither credits for equipment nor much else to put on it apart from a camo net. After that, I had it on a few heavy tanks, mainly "just in case", but in reality there always were equipment sales before I found time to drive those tanks and it got replaced by other stuff before being used. Still have it, though. I'm going to keep it, as it was my first piece of equipment. :great:

Very very useful when on windstorm GP.

Or whatever Dunc comes up with for GP 2.0

Assault TDs like the SU101 and the rest of that line benefits from them, since you'll get tracked a lot

Like bino's and camo nets, it's free to demount, so I keep one in stock for anything low tier that I don't plan to play for more than a couple of battles (e.g. the tier 1 - 4 tanks on a new nation).

I run a toolbox on the Panhard EBR 75 to get the wheels up and running asap.

I use two, in my T95 and obj. 263, in 263 together with double repair kits. I use them as brawlers and don't like getting permatracked. Which is especially risky in 263 since i have the habit of ramming other tanks in it.

It is a must have on T95, IMO, combined with full repair skills, large repair kit, pre-battle maintenance directive and cola. I would even go so far to say that it would benefit a lot from improved version of this equipment (for bonds).

Why?

Because you will get tracked every 3 seconds, and need to get the tracks back ASAP to fight back.

Also useful on many heavies, especially those suitable for sidescraping, since this maneuver essentially guarantees detracking all the time, and staying mobile to deal damage is key.

I use it on tier 1-4 and on some heavy tanks, when I don't have full repairs on the crew, or just to boost repair speed.
