You might've overheard it on the news earlier today.

The European Commission has decided that it is time to stop changing the time every spring and autumn.

Or in other words: either winter time or summer time will get abolished.

Daylight Saving Time has got to go.

And what does this mean?

That the countries, and likely the people, will get to decide which of the two.

By everything you hold holy, please vote to abolish summer time.

There's reasons of course, but there's a very practical one:

Currently, with winter time in winter, it is usually still a bit dark when we go to work/school and come home from work.

If we use summer time in winter, it'll be even darker when we're going to work/school, with the associated traffic satefy risks and what-not.

Or in an easy graph:

You could have explained it easier probably, but I agree. I want winter time because otherwise we will be in the dark in winter till 10 o'clock in the morning.

That problem is caused by having a rigid timetable set around an artificial time measurement.

If you changed the time you started according to daylight then you wouldn't have a problem.

Why not start work/school later in winter and earlier in summer?  Work longer hours in summer like nature intended.

You will find there are far more accidents in the 6 to 9pm time than in the morning period.

Now you have a new one.  You changed your clock forgetting that the clock change had been abolished.

I always wanted them to alter the time of day the clocks go forward and back.

So when they go back make it happen at 8 am so I can wake up realise I am late then clocks go back and I am not.

Best of all Move the clocks forward in the afternoon maybe 4pm the day is dragging and you have another hour till you can go home and suddenly its 5pm and you can go home.

Mind you now I am retired I don't care ;)

That's good news. Doesn't matter much if it's summer or winter time as long as going back and forth stops.
