...and then they sold the defender.

Opinions?

money is far more important than principles.

As long as we have 3/5/7, defender is not an issue imo.

At this point the tank is too common for us to notice again I suspect unlike last time when everyone ran to get it.

Don't know about you OP, but I have lost sense of them caring several years ago and never got it back for 1 second. Each patch only reinforces that opinion. Money is all they care about, simple as that.

It's OP and it will probably break the game for a while, but luckily it's also very boring to play and is frustrating in it's own way so in the long run it won't matter that much. It does however break both SH and TB and to a much smaller degree FL because it is so much better than many other alternatives as soon as you are fighting for objectives in the city.

Since most people know how to deal with them now, I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it (I personally struggle more with some of the regular superheavies than Defender).

I do have one on the NA server though, and it's perhaps my best silver generator, so it would be hypocritical of me to object to it being sold here...

Based on my experience on the NA server (it's one of my most played tanks on there, because if you're time-poor, it's a stupidly effective silver grinder), it's only a massive problem if you're top tier in it, and the user is sensible enough to stay in good brawling terrain; unless they're very good and/or working effectively together, pretty much all opposition lower tier things can't do much more than minor HE damage, or knock tracks off.

As @gpalsson says though, it does have plenty of flaws (can't shoot straight for toffee, notably, plus it's not very good on open ground - no surprise there), and it does get 'samey' fairly quickly; I view playing it over and over again as a bit of a chore, as there's only so many ways you can play the thing and be effective. Of course, as long as MM regularly puts you in with T9&10 opponents, the armour is less crucial too; also, it's often the case that you'll be facing a Defender on the other side as well, and that's one of the more effective counters. The T8 Swedish TDs can make your life miserable as well, if they get LOS to you...

Objectively, Defender should probably have not been released in its present form (from memory, the 'real' one was a variant on the IS-6?), but since it is in the game, I don't think a few more of the buggers will make it any worse, once the initial frequency spike has died down a bit...

On the up-side, experienced players can have a happy time this weekend farming all the new Defender owners who believe the hype, and are expecting to be driving around in a 'god' mode tank...

LOL. I have the 252U which is the same tank, and sucks. Lowe and even the Patriot are far superior on every way.

They have never cared about any of us. Just our money. And if notice you see that this time the MM is no longer flooded with Defenders/252Us. I think most people who wanted the tank bought it in the previous times and now even selling Defender won't bring any money for WG. And while Defender is OP, it doesn't stand a chance against TX guns. Plus most people who bought it are tomatoes and they think Defender is invincible and they always die really soon unless they are against T6 and Yolo everyone which once every blue moon.

Can you explain why you have 60,49% winrate on your 252U, while on Lowe 49,22% ?

With the utmost respect, you may be doing it wrong! In reasonably close quarters, and assuming limited line/distance of sight (basically, in cities), Defender/252U is monstrous; if you get onto more open terrain where accuracy and view range matter, I would take either of the two you mention over Defender/252U every time.

This is basically the only reason why I don't think that Defender/252U should never be sold again - it's situational (albeit the situation that suits it is far too common, thanks to WG's enthusiasm for brawling maps)...

I really doubt WG had any real plan on how to deliver all the promises they made during the holiday season.

The financial department noticed steep decline in revenues and WG pushed out an panic damage control announcement to boost the holiday sales.

Pushing out "yet another overpowered premium" each month doesn't really strike me as an real attempt to balance things out.

4 out of 5 games are "2 minutes and either team collapsed + another 2-3 minutes of wiping the rest".

Players are leaving and practically no new are coming in, and why would they. What's the point in tank game where the best tanks are either bought or not available at all for new players.

And yet you perform quite a bit better in that 252U compared to the other two. So how does that work out exactly?

Fediuld is sprouting nonsense, as his/her performance in the 252U is better than the Lowe and T26E5 (Patriot).

True.

Imo the game has much bigger issues than the defender. It's P2W for sure, but since I don't play competitive I don't mind that much.

If you do play competitive I understand it's annoying that you need to pay to be not underpowered
