Tier 8 had via an event that lasted for a week. Not been given an exact reason for it. But I suspect it's either server or MM related.

Because wg wants to take some t10 out of the matchmaker. Because of too many lowtier games for the t8s.

Tier 8 Grand Battles were actually pretty fun.

It's because not everyone has capped out view range and accurate guns, so the maps actually feel big.

And that's a problem? Didn't particularly feel that GB at tier 8 were hampered by lack of vision or not being able to get to the other end of the map. It might be that battles take a bit longer than randoms - and possibly that T8 also has Frontline. But WG could enable them in alternative weeks...

GB were particularly good at getting some of the campaign mission done, you know, the ones where you need to find a needle in a haystack in pitch black with your hands tied behind your back. Or stun 3 tanks with a single shot:P

Because WG still desperately cling to the notion that tier 10 today is something worth aspiring towards. While the harsh reality is that tier 10 is already populated by the same single-cell organisms that previously spoiled your gameplay enjoyment in the lower tiers. So you only end up being as frustrated but paying more for repairs.

I wish they gave us an option to choose to play GBs. Right now it's purely random and I think that is 100% stupid. Why not make it a separate game mode?

Because they want your  T8  to be canon fodder in T10 battles most of the time.

The problem with grand battles are that arty and TD nests makes it not very fun. The idea is good enough, but the maps aren't very well designed 1 or 2 arty should be max.

Arty is limited, so you can more or less predict where and how clickers behave. TD nests, not so much and they allowed 7 per side.

Otherwise agreed.
